On Thursday's New Day on CNN, during a discussion of President Donald Trump's speech in Poland, CNN international correspondent Christiane Amanpour at one point hinted that those who are "denying climate science" are similar to those who used to think the planets and sun revolve around the Earth as she recalled Trump's decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Accord.
After recounting that Trump had praised former Polish president Lech Walesa and recalled his anti-communist activities from the 1980s, Amanpour noted that Trump had also mentioned the Polish scientist Copernicus and his contributions to astronomy:

On Copernicus -- let's bring up the great scientist Copernicus who both Melania and Donald Trump praised -- he was the one who confirmed hundreds of years ago confirmed that planets revolve around the sun, not the Earth.
She then used Copernicus as a springboard to discredit those who question global warming theory as she added:
Well, today Donald Trump is being criticized in Europe and around the world for basically denying climate science, pulling the United States out of the Paris Accords. There is a huge building there in Warsaw which we're hearing reports has a huge sign on it today saying, "Trump No, Paris Yes," referring to the Paris climate accord.
Below is a transcript of the relevant portion of Amanpour's comments from the Thursday, July 6, New Day on CNN:
8:01 a.m. ET I think he did give a fulsome praise and confirmation of the great post-war liberal democratic order in Europe. But as Ambassador Burns said, he didn't actually -- and he did actually say that he was going to defend it -- but it was short on details. But still, I think it's the most Europe-friendly speech the President has given ever since he became a candidate. So we will wait to see how it goes down in Europe. I think about Russia. He said the sort of pat things that people expect: "We're going to tell him to stop interfering in Ukraine and other places. We're going to tell him to stop supporting hostile regimes," he said, like Syria, also Iran.
But, you know, he did praise Lech Walesa. And this is really important because, you know, nearly a decade before the Berlin Wall came down, Lech Walesa -- a shipyard electrician in Poland -- started Solidarity, and, with John Paul II, started the collapse of the Soviet empire. That is Lech Walesa's contribution to history. And Lech Walesa could probably -- if he was to meet with President Trump which would be a great thing -- tell him a few things about how to deal with the Soviet mindset because that is what Putin has -- the Soviet mindset. And I think that would be really, really important.
On Copernicus -- let's bring up the great scientist Copernicus who both Melania and Donald Trump praised -- he was the one who confirmed hundreds of years ago confirmed that planets revolve around the sun, not the Earth.
Harping on about “global cooling” during the 1970s.
Voodoo with fancy computers is still voodoo.
Not to mention all the Benz crossovers, and Porsche Cayennes and the Land Rovers that were sold there to the Marsian snobs.
I would like to hear Amanpour’s opinion on stability vs amplification, and the effect of these factors on computerized climate models. Because she seems so well versed on the science, I am sure she would have a lot of interesting things to say.
Look at a modern picture of Mars. The ice caps are gone. Whose SUV caused the warming of the Martian globe?
Holy crap! I thought that could not possibly be true!
Of course there is climate change. There has always been climate change, the geologist have determined that by studying their rocks. The question is how did a lot of those climate changes occur when man was not yet present? If man cease to exist would the Earth quit having climate changes? I think not
Mars circa 1960 vs Mars today
Yep - them religious scholars didn't want to admit that just because they were a big religion, they could possibly be wrong about anything - death was a common threat to those who came up with some new data that wasn't copacetic with doctrine.
It would be difficult to find a more appallingly inaccurate and simple-minded description of Copernican astronomy outside of the LSM.
Perhaps Christine can explain why the only cure to GW is the destruction of America? As much a coincidence as the earth orbiting the sun.
“Christiane Amanpour at one point hinted that those who are “denying climate science” are similar to those who used to think the planets and sun revolve around the Earth as she recalled Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Accord.”
The irony that that was once a “consensus” view, finally disputed by that evil denier Galileo, I’m sure is completely lost on the dingbat.
Yeah, Mann is involved in a civil suit in Canada and he is refusing to turn over to the court his raw data that led him to the “hockey stick” conclusion. Hope the judge jails him for contempt of court until he does. When he does the game is over.
MSM is totally ignoring the trial.
Putting aside all the great climate science rebuttals, which seems to be the focus of all the comments here ... my reaction is to point out how this shows the clear bias she and they have against Trump. If this were Obama their focus would be entirely on his successful visit and very well received speech. But no, since it’s Trump - or anyone on the right for that matter - then when confronted with a story that would force them to show the president in a positive light, they have to reach deep into the crevices of their journalistic rectum to pull out some very loosely related issue so they can satisify their urges to throw feces at him.
The only thing constant is Climate Change. The sun has a lot more to do with this than these morons will ever understand.
Yet if one were to sit her down and force her to actually EXPLAIN the Science and concepts behind the Warming myths she believes, she would be dumb-founded.
The ones who scream loudest in this false-church are usually the ones who know the least.
Thanks for noting that. Not many people (it seems) get that. We live on a very dynamic, changing ball of rock. Everything changes all the time. The ground moves. The innards of the planet change by the minute. The seas change. The lakes change. The wildlife changes. Humans change. Vegetation changes.
Why is it that these idiots who scream about climate change believe that it is supposed to remain static? The only way that will happen is after the Sun dies and Earth is one huge ice ball.
Good point.
This trip had nothing to do with Global Warming. We are taking their bait.
A building in Krakow had a sign on it supporting the Paris Accords. That is the nexus between this trip and Global Warming, as far as I can see.
