Democrats will use him as they do any convenient minority within arm's length, but he's not the first to lose a son defending the interests of the United States and thousands of military personnel and civilians have been killed, maimed, tortured, and raped by the very people he's an advocate for.

He out and out lied about Trump’s proposed travel ban, saying if his son were alive he would be deported. The media ate it up with a spoon.
His son was an American citizen and was serving in the US military. Trump never even hinted at deporting American citizens. Indeed, the only way to do that would be to strip someone of their citizenship first, which Trump also never proposed.
The father has no honor whatsoever and neither do the people who, like him, lied about “would have” happened to his son.
