Me too. Have said for years that is more of an answer than solar or wind. I know a lot of the homes in Florida have it but haven’t heard of any in the southwest. Seems like that plus solar in the southwest would meet all our electrical needs.

No. You misread it. It’s talking about “energy” not “electricity”.

Only 20% of total global consumption is via electricity. The point is that if environmentalists are serious about transitioning away from fossil fuels, they have to switch to electric cars & ships etc.

This means we’re talking about replacing energy demand (not just electricity). When you look at it this way (much more realistic), wind becomes a total joke, if it wasn’t already.

We need "diversity" -- except in how we generate electricity. ;^) I'd have photovoltaic arrays installed on the barn, right now, and have a heat pump system (basically, a large buried heat exchanger, this is out in the country, for both heating and cooling) installed, and keep LP gas for cooking -- y'know, if I had the $150-200K to throw around, and enjoyed the much higher assessed valuation and property taxes. Thanks Thalean.

Why is their so little talk about geothermal power? I have heard that even here in Kentucky, a well drilled 300 feet or more can heat a home’s water supply.
