Just wait until they learn that people are receiving sunlight and rain for free.

Yeah—That soda tax has worked wonders in Philadelphia.

Really turned city finances around.

I have to say it. Indiana wants no part of Illinois failure. Keep it over there!

Freakin’ libtards bankrupt and destroy everything they touch.

Prick winky already taxed guns and ammo and all it did was move purchases to bordering counties.

If they could find an effective way to tax the stupidity of the citizenry of Illinois they would be in the black instantly.

Chicago is a drain on the whole state.

I heard this statement about 25 years ago from a very good friend of mine that use to say that he moved to Texas as soon as he graduated from school in Illinois. He has unfortunately passed on but he had a great conservative mind!!!

They can tax as narrow a target as naturally sweetened sodas, not including artificially sweetened zero calorie sodas. But that tax is easily dodged and budgetarily useless. How about trying this equally narrow, not dodgeable and budget saving tax? Tax government sourced pensions! IL constitution says you can’t reduce government pensions, but you would still be paying them in full, just taking back part as taxes. Naturally withheld at the source, like many other taxes, making it cheap to administer. You can even make the tax progressive so the little pensioners aren’t hit to hard, but the rich megapensioners are. You’re targeting a large enough revenue stream to close your budget hole. The private pensions aren’t the state’s problem, are already much better regulated than the public ones, and would be spared by this.

Wonder what the penalty for bootlegging sodas into Cook county would be?

Probably 10 years hard labor.

On the other hand, a violent gang member with lengthy mama sheet would walk most of the time.

They already have. Or have you not heard of the EPA?

Just wait until they learn that people are receiving sunlight and rain for free.

And I'll bet they're breathing, too. There's tons of cash to be made from taxing the inhalation of O2.

A Maryland FReeper posted to me that he’s taxed on the size of his roof and the amount of rainfall that goes into the sewer system. Really. In CO and WA it’s unlawful to collect rain water in cistern because the counties say the rain belongs to them. I guess it’s better to use the available water in summer drought to water than to capture rain and use that. In WA they say you’re taking water away from the aquifer but I guess it’s better to deplete it during the summer drought months than to save it during the rainy season and use that. We love our liberal overlord idiots.
