Wild Bill for America, also known as William Finlay, a popular author and speaker, was arrested today, June 24, 2017, at a Canadian airport for “smuggling hate speech” on his iPad. He was invited to speak at an event at Calgary’s Olympic Plaza called the “Patriotic Unity Mega Festival” coordinated by Cananda’s Worldwide Coaliation Against Islam (WCAI) which also has organizations in Europe and Australia.

They have that in common with Saudi Arabia. If the left weren’t really totalitarian fascists, we could trade our left for Canada’s conservatives and everyone would be happy. But the left would never go for that, they want everyone to live under the oppression.
And notice how selective it is. They’ll never bother a muslim preaching that homos should be killed.
His error was in taking anything across an international border that could be stolen or used against him. The Internet is international, so he could encrypt and post anything he wanted for retrieval once he was in country.
This type of nonsense is so bad that many businesses provide “shell” laptops on site when visitors arrive. They are then given a clean memory stick, a clean OS stick, and a hard drive stick filled with data they securely received and loaded onto the hard drive for them.
This prevents all sorts of government espionage and duplicity.

At the border, you have no rights.
A Canadian border agent demanded the password to my computer when I was there 8 years ago.
Give it to them or be arrested.

I do not think they did, per se. In reading the article, the arrest seems to have been for a protest without a permit after having been denied to speak at an event based on his prior public statements. The overriding issue is still free speech, or the lack of it in The Great White North. Ask the publishers of Free Dominion.
