I signed up about 3-4 months ago. My account is still in this approve-before-post mode. It seems to take significant time before it is approved. This basically killed my will to contribute to site. It’s like being at a party and trying fo participate in a conversation, but you need to submit every comment for review before you can speak it. I am not sure what led to this requirement. I have been on the Internet since the 1980s, and this is the first site that I ever joined that had rules like this. There are some that restrict access to certain boards, or that limit PMs or other features for new members. But none that I know of that moderate every post before it is posted.
So I just lurk and read other’s posts. This post is a rare exception, assuming anyone ever sees it.

You are probably out of your probationary period, I don’t remember mine lasting that long.

The trick, BassWrangler, as all old time Pyjama Patrol Officers know, is to reply to "All."
That way, All will know, for instance, that as you say, you have been on the internet since the 1980s.
There is, however, a Free Republic "back door," accessible only via the BBS.
Hint: "Kristinn" encodes the new BBS number into every fifth HUGH (series) post using a simple substitution cypher, whereupon "Lazmataz" hits it. Good luck!
