I have been considering that maybe we should embrace the play. Caesar is not a villain. He is a victim of Crassus’ hunger for power and Brutus’ simple patriotism, craftily manipulated by Crassus. In the play Caesar has done little wrong except to threaten the sinecures of the equestrian class. Crassus convinces Brutus with the threat of what a man like Caesar might do, not what he has done. All in all the Shakespeare in the Park Company has played upon the ignorance and hate in their audience. To equate Pres. Trump with Caesar, as described by Shakespeare and to revel in the assasination is to be Crassus, a man bent on keeping and increasing power by any means necessary. The Right should take Caesar and proclaim if will not allow the elites to kill him again.

Caesar was ordering works projects, feeding the mobility (mob, for short), and generally infuriating the Roman nobility as he drained the swamp along the Tiber. In other words he was Making Rome Great Again. In their utter ignorance of history the vermin who conceived this production have unintentionally hit on something.

PS: Things did not end well for Crassus, Brutus, and the other "elites" who assumed Rome would be on their side. Not well at all.

The Ctrl-Left are natural allies to the fictional Empire that they wish was real and their own.

Interesting post...a little high brow.

The fallacy of it is, these people attending for the most part simply want to see “Trump” get assassinated to be able to project their own hatred and venom.

They can go home at night sleep well dreaming of the possibility of an actual assassination to make their world right again.

Do you really think most of them understand the historical aspects of the Shakespeare play?
