Ruger Pleases NJ, NY, MD & MA Residents with AR-556 Legal for Consumption (Of Ammo)

If you sadly live in New Jersey, New York, Maryland or Massachusetts and actually like firearms, your list of legal AR-15s can probably fit on the bar napkin you drink your sorrows away on. OK, that is slightly over the top, but legal ones are few and far between. Ruger is adding to that list with a new AR-556 with a MonsterMan grip.

Some notable features, or modifications depending on how you look at it, that make it legal in the aforementioned states are:

-Threaded Barrel (1/2″ x 28 TPI) w/ Thread Protector [No Flash Hider or Muzzle Device]

-Fixed A2 Stock [No Scary Collapsible Stock]

-10-Round Magazine [None of that High-Cap Nonsense]

MonsterMan Grip [It Ain’t a Pistol Grip If Your Hand Can’t Go All the Way Around]

Gun manufacturers have to get creative to comply with these states usurping our 2nd Amendment.

It looks kinda gay.

I would not want my ar-15 looking like that.

Course my ar-15 was assembled by the company owned by that guy who just got 2 life sentences for sex crimes against children >_>

Yes it does, I am very pleased with it. It really is a pleasure to shoot.

However I have found that one of my 30 round magazines causes the gun to jam frequently. It’s only that magazine too, I can’t figure out why it does that.

That grip looks downright silly. Is there anything special about the magazine, or would a larger magazine fit?

What is funny is with that standard removable magazine catch, I believe it is still illegal on the People’s Rupublik of Kalifornia.

Larger capacity mags would fit but then you’d be guilty of a felony for possessing one in those states.

“you’d be guilty of a felony”

Lefty journalists exempted, I suppose.

What happened to the Constitutional guarantee of a fair and speedy trial?

If you remove all the banned features, it can have a detachable mag in CA. Remove the detachable mag and it can have the banned features. Just can’t have both in CA. But....... the CA latest laws on this may be up in the air.

In the 59 years I lived in Calif, do not recall one gun law being pulled. May have been one, but is always seemed like an unstoppable avalanche.

I’m actually considering buying a Ruger Mini-14 because it’s kind of clutter-free.

Yes, he did, but now I think it’s orange or possibly even pink.

Ditto, but a few they had to pull back on. Our only hope for relief is SCOTUS now.
