LOS ANGELES Dodgers Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda has been hospitalized for several days.
Details of Lasordas illness are being kept private, but a number of Lasordas former players have been among those in contact with Lasorda, who has been in the intensive care unit at a Los Angeles hospital. Lasorda, 89, has a history of heart problems and was hospitalized following a heart attack as recently as 2012.
Lasorda has been hospitalized multiple times in the past year, including after a fall while attending a memorabilia show in Atlantic City last August and then again for 10 days with multiple issues in October. But he was released in time to attend Game 3 of the National League Championship Series between the Dodgers and Chicago Cubs at Dodger Stadium, where he received his usual ovation when introduced to the crowd.

Nope.
Back in the 80’s, I went to a Spring Trng day game at Vero Beach. LaSorda was managing, the Ultra Slim Fast man. I saw him on the field and said to myself -
damn, that stuff must work.
Then I got back in my car and was hauling butt for West Florida when I passed by Haines City and they were advertising a night game btwn the Royals and the Dodgers.
What the hell, I stopped figuring I would watch a couple innings. One of the first things I noticed was a “before” Tommy LaSorda. He had been wearing a girdle at Vero!
Amen to all of that.
Prayers up.
Sad. Prayers for Mr. Lasorda. He was sorely missed on 9/23/16 when Kevin Costner gave the best speech ever at Dodger Stadium. Losorda should have sat with Vin Scully that day. Sadly, he was in the stands, unable to follow the program.

Prayers for Tommy, from a Giants fan.
