Citibank Analcyst speculates that Apple might buy Tesla with some of Apple's spare change. Tesla survives on Federal electric car/alternative fuel tax credits for both sales and energy usage to charge their users' cars. If they disappear in a tax reform bill, Tesla's retail sales will take a tail spinning drop. What do you think? Is acquiring Tesla in Apple's best interest?— PING!

Without new battery concepts, electric cars are limited to city driving. Anything more than an hour one way is not feasible. Most people would like to take some sort of road trip every few months.

Then again, there are those of us who think Electric Cars are pretty much "dead out of the gate."
IMO, Hybrid (gas/electric) is really the way to go. Luxury car makers already know this since they're creating luxury Hybrids.
Hybrid technology is an excellent way to boost gas mileage AND increase performance at the same time.
This is why for the real car enthusiasts "of the future" Hybrids are the way to go.

Even with Apple's massive war chest the result of such a merger would...eventually,and it could take a while...be utter collapse.Simply because electric vehicles will,in the end,be no more successful than the Segway which,in the buildup to its release,was,like Tesla,claimed to be destined to change human civilization.
