Oregon is the least churched state in the union. It shows. Last week, there was an article stating, "In Oregon, 624,000 people have a mental illness. Thats almost 21% of all Oregonians, or 1 in 5. Federal and state health care budgets cant seem to keep up."

A look at how mental illness has been defined downwards is warranted. My nephew is being treated for depression by his doctor. I’m certain that he is one of those counted as mentally ill.

Schizophrenia and cannabis are a bad combination. I wonder if Jason, mentioned in the article, was high when he confronted the business owner. I wonder the same thing about the Colorado theater shooter.

Seems there’s a church on every corner in SW Oregon. Especially in Bandon, a semi-Bohemian burg full of drunks.

Also, conservative talk show host Lars Larsen runs a PSA on mental health problems in Oregon. I’m sure he read the text right, but it was written “...help end the stigma of mental health.” Perfect for Portland.
