I’ve smoked pot maybe a dozen times my entire 48 years.
I’ve downed enough liquor to fill a small swimming pool. Most of that was in the teens and 20s.
Never got into a fight at a bar after smoking a joint and never got into a fight with a pothead.
STARTED fights like a moron while drunk and got hit by drunks who started fights.
If my kid was gonna test with something for a few years, I’d rather it be pot.
Also, i’ve yet to see it have been a “gateway” drug for anyone I’ve known.
In fact, the potheads i knew never used anything else and the cokeheads i knew never smoked pot. Two VERY different highs. .
I started using cannabis as medicine in Feb 2015. Hadn’t touched the stuff since college & even though I played music in clubs for 20+ years & saw it being used every day I just wasn’t interested in it. It’s literally saved my life after decades of depression & anxiety.
Like you, I never saw a cannabis user fight or start one but I sure saw drunks fight a LOT! It’s also a running joke at my house now with, “Have you seen my gateway? There’s a supposed to be a gateway, dang! Where’s mine?” kinda nonsense. All I ever do is get to chuckling & after my bedtime dose, I sleep so very well.
I’d much rather be in a room full of cannabis users than in a room full of people drinking booze. Granted, cannabis isn’t for everyone. But it sure helps me with my quality of life.

Cokeheads can be elitist for some reason. They even have their own recovery group, CA, because who would be so bourgeois as to be part of AA or NA?
