Yup...I’m thinking after China turned away a number of ships full of coal from North Korea, that Trump could turn our coal industry into a huge export engine and create tens of thousands of good paying jobs in coal country. It would be a life changer for those people.
97 pound weakling Obama couldn’t even get China to toss him a fortune cookie. Ever.
The limited form of capitalism they deployed in the 90s gave China a way to not only feed it’s millions of rural poor but also to elevate them to what is becoming a middle class. After the fall of the USSR, Putin restored order and national pride in Russia, stemmed the outflow of wealth to the oligarchs, and rebuilt what was left of a poor economy. Both countries and their leaders need to keep these trends going, and the biggest possible source of assistance is the USA. Just keep in mind, they are pragmatists, aka “deal makers”, even though they will probably always hold some very different core beliefs. We don’t have to be soul brothers to have good working relationships with these countries.
Is China still heavy into using coal for fuel? I would have expected them to develop any natural gas by now. But then, perhaps there is not an abundance of natural gas on that part of the globe. I would also expect them to be working on nuclear power as well, just like France.
Could you imagine the dimwitocrats grief if we get to export coal and clean coal tech to China.
“Look you guys have a pollution problem. Lets fix it. Come on. It is a win win and you see it. You will be a hero to your people.” “Ok.” “Just one little issue. Do not use Nork coal use ours.” “Ok.”
I am a smart guy. I would say brilliant but high holy hell Trump is so far ahead of me. I see his dust and look and say, oh I see what you did there. Cross Grant with Patton and Rockefeller and Jobs... still not there. The man is F’n brilliant at the 9 Sigma level on the bell curve. Are we even worthy to be his countrymen?
I don’t think the chinese gave away much. So now US banks can have majority US interests in china now that China has huge banking incumbents.
So what if china allows more beef imports.
these items mean little to nothing.
pRAISE KEK
97 pound weakling Obama couldnt even get China to toss him a fortune cookie. Ever.
All he did was kiss their azzes.
“Apparently China is also planning to end the 14-year ban on United States imports...”
Imports of what?
This is a ridiculous article.
The FT article it regurgitates poorly is of more interest.
I completely agree.
This is an opening bargaining position. I am very sad so many seem to be getting excited.
We need to open up China’s markets to all products.
Including importantly, MANUFACTURED GOODS.
“even though they will probably always hold some very different core beliefs.”
I’m not sure their core beliefs are all that different anymore. Both the chinese and russians have morphed from communists to nationalist capitalists.
They’re both looking out for their country’s interests first and foremost, just like Trump wants to look out for America first.
As China grows its middle class those people are moving up the food chain and desire more meat products.
That’s a problem. It takes 3 kilograms of feed to grow 1 kilogram of meat and China has a limited ability to move from a largely grain based diet to one that more meat than traditionally desired or available.
Their lands are less able to grow foods as desertification takes place and each year more farming is being reduced by land so polluted that it cannot be ameliorated for generations to come.
Clean waters are each day being degraded as well, further reducing quality and quantity of food that can be produced.
The United States has 6 times more safe, clean arable lands.
China is moving to a position that makes it an imperative they import more food from other countries, particularly the United States.
So, I’m not sure this is a huge win due to a Trump demand but, maybe more driven by moving the timeline for our mutual necessities of equal commerce and their requirements to feed a population wanting better foods.
If Argentina hadn’t ruined themselves they would stand to benefit from such a situation.
Ive been to China. Thuth is its more capitalistic then your average big American city.
I love your sarcasm. Just the laugh I needed at the moment. Thanks!
Don’t cry for them.
It’s a win for us...again and again...
OMG! you just made me spit out my cough medicine. ROFL
The only balls Zer0 had were golf balls.
