Yup...I’m thinking after China turned away a number of ships full of coal from North Korea, that Trump could turn our coal industry into a huge export engine and create tens of thousands of good paying jobs in coal country. It would be a life changer for those people.

97 pound weakling Obama couldn’t even get China to toss him a fortune cookie. Ever.

I don’t think the chinese gave away much. So now US banks can have majority US interests in china now that China has huge banking incumbents.

So what if china allows more beef imports.

these items mean little to nothing.

“Apparently China is also planning to end the 14-year ban on United States imports...”

Imports of what?

This is a ridiculous article.

The FT article it regurgitates poorly is of more interest.

There is more going on.

Bill Still is the source and I need to confirm with other sources.

Reported elsewhere, China has cut off all coal (anthracite) imports from North Korea. They have been purchasing it from NK since Obama's war on coal. According to Mr. Still, China is now going to import anthracite from the US.

Interesting deal making if true. The banning of coal is devastating to what there is of the NK economy.

As China grows its middle class those people are moving up the food chain and desire more meat products.

That’s a problem. It takes 3 kilograms of feed to grow 1 kilogram of meat and China has a limited ability to move from a largely grain based diet to one that more meat than traditionally desired or available.

Their lands are less able to grow foods as desertification takes place and each year more farming is being reduced by land so polluted that it cannot be ameliorated for generations to come.

Clean waters are each day being degraded as well, further reducing quality and quantity of food that can be produced.

The United States has 6 times more safe, clean arable lands.

China is moving to a position that makes it an imperative they import more food from other countries, particularly the United States.

So, I’m not sure this is a huge win due to a Trump demand but, maybe more driven by moving the timeline for our mutual necessities of equal commerce and their requirements to feed a population wanting better foods.

Absolutely nothing to get excited here about. Calling this one a win is an exaggeration. Shipping China raw food stuff, oil and coal and they ship back finished goods is not a win. Didn’t we shoot red coats for the very same reason?
