TUSKEGEE, AL COULD LAND AIRCRAFT PLANT IF GLOBAL AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE FIRM WINS T-100 CONTRACT WITH U.S. AIR FORCE
Macon County, AL (WSFA) Leonardo-DRS has submitted a bid in the U.S. Air Force competition to assemble T100 aircraft at Tuskegee, Alabamas Moton Airfield.
Alabama Governor Robert Bentley announced the bid on Thursday.
He said if the global aerospace and defense firm wins, the advanced assembly center would create 750 high-wage, full-time jobs over a 10-year ramp-up period.
The project would begin in 2019 and the total investment in the T-100 projects buildings, infrastructure and equipment could reach $250 million.
Leonardos twin-engine T-100 is used to train pilots around the world to fly next-generation fighter aircraft.
The winner will be announced sometime between September 30th and December 30th.
It’s long past time to replace the aging T-38s.

Can I have one?
Each plane should carry a photo of one of the Tuskegee Airmen or a photo of ALL Tuskegee Airmen!
Invite all surviving Tuskegee Airmen to the plant opening and flight of the first T-100 out of the plant.
Was an acquatintance with a guy who was friends with a RR cop. We were going to meet up at an antique gun show. The RR Cop brought his dad. The dad had been a Tuskegee Airman. It was an honor to meet him to be sure. Wish I had time to pick his brain on what went on but it wasn’t the right venue. We enjoyed the antique weapons.
