The US national team rode their luck repeatedly, but eventually gritted out a hard-earned 1-1 draw with Panama at Estadio Rommel Fernandez on Tuesday night.

Tim Howard had to make three saves and the back line wobbled repeatedly. But the visitors overcame tense circumstances, an uneven playing surface and constant Panamanian physicality to achieve the road point they’d originally targeted from this fixture.

If USA soccer is to improve, I’d say a draw against a weak team like Panama isn’t a move in the right direction.
The CONCACAF is probably the 2nd weakest Confederation in FIFA, they should be right up there with Mexico in the top two.

Bruce Arena and Michael Bradley went out of their way to rip Trump's attempt to ban terrorists.

Tim Howard said what Kaepernick did was great.

Rainbow flags fly all over every MLS stadium and liberal freaks have become the biggest fans of the sport in the US.

And with the exception of Pulisic who is fantastic, the talent ranges from mediocre to awful (Bradley who is captain). Does Arena really have the look of a soccer coach? He definitely has a ‘certain’ look, but it ain't athletic coach and leader of the national team.

I couldn't be rooting any stronger for this team to get buried every time they play.

I’ll take it, too, Berlin Freeper. Panama is never easy.

I find it pretty easy to pull for this team - it’s not my favorite group over the years, but Arena will bring out of these players a “blue collar work ethic” that is enjoyable to watch.

How can you not like Dempsey? Ugly enough to be a good player, hard nosed as can be, raised poor in Natchitoches, Texas, and continuing to play after a reasonably serious heart arrhythmia condition. Plus, none of these guys are overpaid prima donnas who make millions sitting on the bench while hitting .185 in the MLB.

And I can give Arena a bit of a pass for two reasons . . .

One, he’s a Cornell grad and we all know the evil level education he got in that soulless city of Ithaca . . .

And he was also a heck of a lacrosse player in college and that gets a credit in my book :)

Lee R
Hobart ‘80 . . . therefore an expert on what Ithaca produces . . . the only good about Ithaca was the downtown bars . . .

I’ve used Tim Howard’s Christian testimony in a sermon.

I think we’ve got our first legitimate US World-Class player with Pulisic. He’s going to be special. I’ve heard a lot of soccer experts say that he’s on par with where Messi and Ronaldo were at his age. He brilliantly setup Dempsey’s goal. But he’s going to have to learn to keep his composure because teams will start targeting him.

Arena got us to the Final 8 in 2002, and we outplayed the Germans in the Quarterfinals, although we came up short.
