Cruz did not win the election.

I believe this sort of *** is why.

Nope. I voted for Trump. Not Cruz.

Sounds remarkably like the plan that Rand Paul, an actual doctor that has had to deal with the nightmare of o’care, has put forward and has put forward for years.

That sounds like the right way to do it. Add tort reform and this would be the lion’s share of getting us back to a free market health care industry.

What they need to do is punt the issue to the States/People and remind everyone that the federal government is broke and that very dime of revenue until FY2023 or later is slated for debt service. The 10th Amendment spells this out well and the National Debt enforces that the Feds can’t pay for health care.

The Uniparty eunuchs serve as attendants of Fedzilla.
Repealing Obamacare would reduce Fedzilla’s power and they will never do that.
All of the agencies created by Obamacare are what they are trying to preserve, along with the power of controlling all health care decisions and medical records.

First of all, those employees who have insurance through their employment, do NOT pay the whole cost of that insurance.

Secondly, IF you get fired, there's COBRA!

If you can't afford to pay...there's NO hospital that will turn you away.

Insurance companies are NOT "charities", are in it to make money!

The crapsandwich things that were listed, are either irrational, stupid, unworkable, or just ridiculous.

Switzerland has a great syste from what I understand. From Wikipedia:
“There are no free state-provided health services, but private health insurance is compulsory for all persons residing in Switzerland (within three months of taking up residence or being born in the country)”.

“The whole healthcare system is geared toward the general goals of keeping the system competitive across cantonal lines, promoting general public health and reducing costs while encouraging individual responsibility.”

If not tied to employer, what does that do about group rates.

Let a doctor hang out his shingle and draw up a price list.

Let the drug and equipment salespeople come and swing their best deal.

Advertise.

Let the market make a man wealthy or not.

We all have the same problem.

#5 sounds good. How could they do #3?

How would #2 work? I've worked at companies that have fantastic insurance, and others not so much?

It'll never happen, because Trump and his supporters don't want any kind of conservative healthcare.

Another plan mistaking “health insurance” for “health care”. Insurance, by its nature, breaks the free-market link between customer and seller.

What we need are ways to make providing actual health care less expensive. Kill all the barriers to entry, from the AMA defining what a “doctor” is, to limiting the FDA to preventing toxicity, to barring the local government from limiting what procedures nurses can perform, to allowing unlimited re-importation of pharmaceuticals. Require all prices be posted and agreed in writing prior to service. Fast track licensing of doctors already certified in select partner countries like England, Canada, and Germany.

Finally, nobody seems to link tax reform and healthcare costs: Everybody involved in providing health care is in the upper middle class tax bracket — at least. That means that the Feds and State between them are taking 50 cents of every dollar these people earn. A flat tax rate of 10% would allow doctors and nurses to charge much less while keeping more after taxes.

Enforce Title 15 and no third party paying for routine and elective events and you got a deal.

President Trump is reverting to his Democrat roots threatening to cut a deal with liberals on healthcare.

What a crock of shit.

Apparently, this moron doesn't understand basic psychology. If he's going to take cheap shots like that, I have no interest in reading the rest.

Democrats will claim victory, Republicans will blame each other, Trump will triangulate to make it seem as though he got from this exactly what he wanted all along or that this is all part of his infinitely genius grand master scheme that no one can fully understand yet.

And Americans get screwed. In other words, typical Washington.

Inasmuch as Trump likes to win, and doesn't like to get blamed for poor outcomes, I find it hard to believe that he would willingly pass (and accept the blame for) something that would have Americans "get screwed" and be branded as "typical Washington".

If Ted Cruz has something that could be called "Cruzcare" that would be a good replacement for Obamacare, than that's fine, and I'm sure President Trump would sign it.

But I'm not interested in hearing about it from this person who, like the Democrats, chooses to take President Trump hyper-literally whenever it suits the propaganda goal of undermining him...

The author misstates Cruz's proposal.

The employer contribution and its tax-deductibility, an effective subsidy, should be replaced by a direct subsidy to the insured, whether or not employed. This would be calibrated to be revenue-neutral.
