Who bankrolls the Freedom Caucus and what have they ever done for us?
vanity | March 28, 2017 | Kevin J. Collins

Posted on 03/28/2017 5:52:23 AM PDT by jmaroneps37

I voted for Donald Trump and I support him 100%. I wanted him to kill Obamacare and I knew he would have to move feckless spineless Republicans who made 60 – count them 60 SHOW BUSINESS votes to repeal Obamacare when it didn’t count. Now when it can count lies are oozing out of their teeth.

What has the Freedom Caucus ever done for us? A thorough search of available mentions of the Freedom Caucus unsurprisingly reveals that it has done nothing for us. Sad failures that they are, they crow about getting other “conservatives” elected and try to pass that off as accomplishments.

According to its mission statement the Freedom Caucus says, …it gives a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans."

Well the Freedom Caucus had its chance to “give a voice to countless Americans who KNOW Washington does not represent them..”; and guess what thanks to the Freedom Caucus Washington still doesn’t hear the voice of millions of Americans trapped in Obamacare’s daily nightmare.

The Freedom Caucus that now attacks Paul Ryan (make no mistake I’m not a Ryan fan) gave him to us. In its statement supporting Ryan for Speaker, the Freedom Caucus said, ““Paul is a policy entrepreneur who has developed conservative reforms dealing with a wide variety of subjects, and he has promised to be an ideas-focused speaker who will advance limited government principles and devolve power to the membership….”

Gee doesn’t that SOUND so good? Either the Freedom Caucus is not very bright and Ryan fooled them or they lied for the sake of expedience when they said these laudatory comments about Ryan.

So what has changed? Why would Ryan “lose” his skills as a “policy entrepreneur?”

The answer could be found in who is bankrolling the Freedom Caucus and whose bidding they are doing.

The Freedom Caucus’ mission statement raises questions that beg to be answered. We have to ask who the members of the Freedom Caucus are but far more importantly, who is bankrolling them and what could these supporters possibly want from Freedom Caucus members?

Among the donors who have brought us the Freedom Caucus are groups that hate Donald Trump and have not been hesitant to let the world know they do.

The Koch brothers who make no pretense about their anti-Trump feelings gave Freedom Caucus members $144,000.

The Club For growth another group of devoted Trump haters gave Freedom Caucus members $391,000.

Warren Buffet, yet another Trump hater gave the Freedom Caucus $87,000.

While the exact nature of what drove these groups and people to support the Freedom Caucus is likely attributable to their personal animus toward President Trump, there is no such latitude in understanding the motives for lobbyists from various healthcare groups giving huge amounts of campaign donations to Freedom Caucus members.

The healthcare industry slipped the Freedom Caucus over $2.07 million to insure it got what it wanted which is the continuation of Obamacare with little or no of their “finger prints” on the defeat of the latest repeal effort.

So now we know what the Freedom Caucus has been up to. They backed Paul Ryan only to betray him and far more importantly to betray us.

Fourteen members of the Freedom Caucus were avid fans of Ted Cruz the face of the NeverTrump movement among Republican nomination contenders. None of these people are particular Trump fans even now that he has been elected president.

What our “sooo much more conservative than us” friends in the Freedom Caucus could have done by supporting the repeal bill was establish a starting point to begin to free American slaves from the clutches of Obamacare.

Right now Secretary Tom Price could be busy reversing the rules and powers in Obamacare meant to screw the American people. Price could be easing their burden of worrying about their family’s well-being; but instead these suffering Americans have been given the assignment of suffering to advance the narrative that The Freedom Caucus is a group of patriots who are willing to put their careers aside in order to help them.

The irony of the Freedom Caucus’ failure to help the American people is that now they have aligned themselves with the greater lying do nothing Republican Caucus and become indistinguishable from the rest of the worms. The Freedom Caucus’ sole accomplishment is that they have engineered the first failure of a repeal bill in a Republican controlled House.

Because of the Freedom Caucus WE lost, President Trump lost and they and Chuck Schumer won. . They could have been active voices in the continuing process of saving Americans from Obamacare, but instead they choose to preen and show us how “oh soo conservative” they are.

Their “conservatism” won’t help parents of children who need services they can’t now find even if they could pay for them.

Their “conservatism” has exposed them of being unworthy of the trust Right To life activists placed in them and now Planned Parenthood will continue to rip apart innocent babies to sell their parts to buy shiny new sports cars.

The Freedom Caucus went all in and thought they won; they didn’t.

Amen to yours and other of like mind. The real test will be how they vote on the next debt ceiling raiae, which IMHO should never be raised again. If the Govt needs to shut down for a year to get people’s attention so be it.

Precisely! Paul Ryan has received much more in funding from the Koch Bros. than all of the now 35 members of the Freedom Caucus combined.

I, for one, am tired of this “I’ll gladly give you real legislation tomorrow for concessions and votes today”. Trump threw in with the wrong guy on the wrong piece of legislation and, while he has to work with the Speaker, he doesn’t have to trust him. Like it or not, like any chief executive, Trump himself is responsible for the outcome of the AHCA “negotiations” and for what can only be called abject ignorance about the real issues surrounding Obamacare.

Furthermore, characterizing Freedom Caucus members as Trump haters - especially in the context of this issue, is an even greater distortion. No member of the Freedom Caucus has been as anti-Trump as Paul Ryan himself.

I’m with MilesVeritatis; the Freedom Caucus saved Trump from even greater, long-term embarrassment and if he’s the visionary leader we believe him to be, he’ll come to that realization soon.

The way some freepers are carrying on about the Freedom Caucus, I guess they would rather that we had left Eric Cantor in office so that they could have passed Rubio’s amnesty in the summer of 2014 to get the issue off the table as planned to clear the way for Yeb! and there would have been no President Trump.

The Freedom Caucus opposes compromise on that bill because they realize that compromising with bad policy is like adding sewage to your drinking water. Who needs Obamacare lite?

If they stopped Ly’nRyanCare how can you say they didn’t win!

3 part Ryancare was just a ploy for the 2018 and 2020 elections!

We should repeal and replace Ryan and then maybe we’d get some honest legislation!

Neither Trump nor the mainstream Repubs want the optics of throwing millions of uninsurable sick folks off Obamacare. That’s why Ryancare didn’t change that part in the least, and that’s why it was unacceptable.

Ryancare was going to do away with the individual mandate, removing that source of funding from the equation. So, inevitably, healthcare would’ve become much more costly to those in health plans, so they could fund those uninsurable sick folks. This is all about wealth redistribution.

Mo Brooks understands the only way to fix Obamacare is to kill it, and live with the political consequences.

Cruz understood how Obamacare would embed itself in the body politic like a tick and be almost impossible to remove without some political pain. That’s why he fell on his sword and shut down the government to try to stop it from going into effect. Too bad he failed.

Now the mainstream Repubs are terrified to just kill it, because there’d be sob stories in the news every night. They kept promising to repeal Obamacare completely. They reneged on that promise with Ryancare.

It’s a long time till election day in 2018. Now’s the time to just kill it and live with those political consequences and try to put forth a capitalist answer to the socialist Obamacare/Ryancare problem.

Took me just a few minutes of searching for me to put that vanity together--there's a lot more available for anyone who searches (instead of throwing up "deeply concerned" passive-agressive shiite).

Who bankrolls them? Who cares. Seriously. No conspiracy is behind them, funding or other.

You're not one of those "It's the Kochs! It's the Kochs!!" idiots, are you? That's the kind of crap moveon.org posts everywhere. Oh, I know--it's the Russians!!!

They are globalists posing as “conservatives”. they are happy with open borders and Ryan being BFF with Luis Gutierrez — and thus a co-traitor to the U.S. — and supported him as Speaker.

Tucker was asking last night about who profits from addiction, and said he is going to do a week series on it (I think next week).

I hope you can send him that list.

Thanks for the info, and for posting it.

Although the company has been accused of almost single-handedly sparking opioid abuse through aggressive, misleading advertising that led to over-prescribing and addiction, they are now trying to mitigate that collateral damage with a number of efforts to curb reliance on pain medication. Along with a number of non-opioid pain medications coming down the pipeline, Purdue is working on various programs to fight opioid abuse, such as a recent partnership to improve electronic prescription monitoring in Virginia and a sponsored epidemiology study in Oklahoma. Another study in North Carolina is looking into proper disposal of medication.
