Get back to work and do your jobs, Republicans (and that goes for Trump, too).
After seven years of telling us they would repeal and replace ObamaCare at the first opportunity, the Republican House worked on it all of 63 days before apparently deciding it could not do so - despite a Republican majority in the Senate (however small) and a Republican president prepared to sign the bill.
Did they ever intend to do this in the first place?
How often do I have to say Trump supported a stinker bill. And frankly. I think once this leaves the news cycle, a lot of people will move on.
You drank the koolaid. Sorry. Actually Trump has always been repeal and replace. I think a lot of people blanked that out when he said it.
I don’t know that one would pass through with what we’ve got...
They seem to be happy to let things go as they are...
“When did repeal become repeal and replace?”
THIS.
We didn’t want “replace”. We want the government OUT of the healthcare monopoly business. Tear down barriers to selling people what they actually want and can afford.
Yes he does. But he never once said this stinker is a nonstarter. He twisted arms to pass it. Never did say start over.
No--Trump getting elected royally screwed up their kabuki performance.
He should gave walked away from the beginning. He pushed hard for a very flawed bill. He never once said it was a nonstarter.
...you have been one of the major NeverTrumpers on FR.....
My biggest complaint against trump was rightly legitimate: He said one thing one day and the opposite the next. And I said, when he was running in the primary, that he was the most likely candidate to win the presidency if he won the primary. But I still wanted Cruz because I trusted him more. I always thought the “lyin’ Ted” nickname Trump gave him was projection.
Now that Trump is president, I love what he is doing, except this health insurance thing. And this was the one issue I cared about. And ALL I cared about was that they eliminate the mandates and it will collapse of its own weight - And fast
???
You voted for a repeal and replace President.
Well, I’ll move on from the bill, but I won’t move on from Obamacare needing to be repealed. That was my number one issue of this election. It’s quite literally the only one I really cared about. Even immigration. I have plenty of cartridges...
The bill should have gone to the senate and then reconciliation committee where it would have gone through a transformation.......
If Trump didn’t like the final bill he could always veto....
Never got the chance
The Senate would have watered it down even worse. Trump should have said DOA if it looks anything like what was proposed. He didnt. He pushed for it.
Exactly. I confess that if we HAD to have government injecting itself in Health insurance, the one thing I would support is a law that prevented companies from including health insurance as part of their compensation package.
The way to make something expensive is to make sure those using it are not the ones paying for it. Make it like car insurance and bread and milk, and watch competition drive the price down.
Did you vote for Trump in the primary? He pretty much indicated he was repeal and replace with something even more than Obama care sand the mandate. This was a slimmed down version of his desires. The rest was in round 2 and 3.
So, you didn’t vote for Trump????
We will differ in opinion regarding your NeverTrump status....
The ACA is collasping with the mandates in place....
Without 60 votes in the Senate, repeal in the Senate never would have happened, so limits were in place with the reconciliation process....However once the bill went to committee major changes could be made without Democrat input...
The bill should have been passed to the Senate then to reconciliation committee where it would have been drastically changed....
Trumps view....if the final bill wasn’t good he would veto it anyway and send it back.....
Yes that’s it, no they never intended to repeal it in the first place, yes you all got played for the last 7 years. Really folks, why is it suddenly news to you that the time you should trust a politician the least is when he’s saying things you want to hear?
