For some reason, my mind has harkened back to the Republican Convention and Ted Cruz committing political suicide. Donald Trump showed up to watch that speech, he knew that Cruz could not help himself and would do something outrageous. After Cruz did exactly that, the Donald got up and left. He had given Cruz the rope to hang himself, and Cruz obliged.
I now have to wonder if Comey was retained for the same reason. Did Trump know, or suspect, something like this and decided to let it play out and have the guy ruin himself? If so, Machiavelli would be impressed.

What is really interesting is what information Obama and his cronies were able to see. They learned what the Trump agenda was, how they were going to get things done and who they would be appointing to various positions. That means team Obama had a head start trying to thwart the progress of Team Trump. This is pretty bad stuff here and definitely worthy of prison time in my eyes. State secrets, spying.
