Another reason I don’t answer the phone unless I recognize the caller on caller ID. If it’s an obvious solicitation call, I just click it on, then click it off, if I’m not in the mood to hear the phone ring.

I was just thinking another way to do that is to say

something like

Mrs X?

and you say

Yes.

I have a fake name as the registered person and then me as the real account holder. Can’t remember exactly how that was set up....so I always know when it is a sales call because they will ask for MRs fake name.

Sometimes I act batty. It seems to stop the calls....Like...DID YOU STEAL THE ROOSTERS IN THE HEN HOUSE.

They used a fake number that doesn’t show up on caller ID. It just said that it was from Bremerton. My husband does get calls from Bremerton, so he answered.

The key is not say anything unless the caller identifies themself. All you have to do is hang up. The person will call back if they really want to talk to you.
