What does a real negotiator negotiate? Pretty much everything. Just ask German Chancellor Angela Merkel, she came for tea and left having to commit to ponying up her overdue NATO dues.

Trump told Merkel he supports a "strong NATO" but added that her country and other European nations must pay their "fair share" of the costs of the alliance.

"Many nations owe vast sums of money from past years and it is very unfair to the United States," Trump said in a joint news conference with Merkel after their meetings. "These nations must pay what they owe."

Merkel said Germany is increasing its NATO contributions, seeking to meet the organization's goal of 2% of gross domestic product. USA Today

It looks like President Trump is going to be more successful at making people pay their “fair share” than Barry ever was.OBAMA-Fair-Share

But don’t expect him to negotiate on his travel ban. Even left-wing radical lawyer Alan Dershowitz thinks it’s legal and will withstand a Supreme Court ruling, should it come to that.

As Yogi Berra once quipped “it’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.” It’s even harder if the prediction is about what eight, or possibly nine, justices will rule in a given case.

Having said that I will venture a prognostication: I think the justices will uphold the major provisions of the order, if the case gets to them.- The Hill

You don’t have to negotiate when you are holding the winning hand.

Besides, while most everything else is negotiable, America’s sovereignty is not.

If anyone believes the Germans will achieve 2% in the next 10 years, I have a car I’d like to sell them. Reliable and cheap.

Germany has ONLY committed to developing a plan over the next 3 years on how they will achieve 2%.

And they will never, ever make up the gap of the last 20 years. You can take that to the bank.

Germans looks down on America, saying she mistreats her people.....however Socialist Germany...."...healthcare system, a governmental education system, with a labor market which is captivated by labor unions and government, a confiscatory tax system, a national quota of more than 50% with a heavily regulated housing market, a massively subsidized and regulated agricultural sector and an energy sector which is embedded in a complicated mesh between market and state with at least a hundred thousand businesses in municipal ownership (i.e. state property) and a governmental papermoney monopoly, even with a governmental television system including mandatory fees.

President Trump has said.."“Now at some point, they may have to protect themselves. Do I like that? Not particularly. But we cannot afford it as a country.” the countries he is referring to are: Germany, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.

I am good with it. They need to pay their share of the load. Besides, she’s sold Germany down the river with her muzzie love.

Germany depends on the revenue hosting U.S. military bases. Bring those men back home and listen to the howl from the krauts.

If the Euros defend themselves this could make major savings for us.

I don’t think the President is looking for past payments.

These are negotiations moving forward.

NATO doesn’t mean the USA pays for everything. If you want to be a member 2% of your GDP is required.

Trump sees it as a weaponized golf club. Pay or you don’t get in.
