Connecticut residents are fleeing in large numbers to escape their state government. Its known to locals as the Connecticut Exodus. The once-beautiful state has been leveled by an abusive Democratic-majority government.
Even the few Republicans actually holding office would be considered Democrats in other regions of the country. Its called the bluest state in the nation, and I think it would be hard to argue it isnt the California of the east minus the jobs, companies, good weather and innovation, of course.
Outsiders think of Connecticut as a rich state in the northeast; many dont know that they have some of the most dangerous cities in the country. You cant go out at night in many areas even in the vicinity of Ivy League school Yale without risking being murdered or raped. Doctors have been attacked, maimed trying to get to work at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Nobody is safe.
Bridgeport Connecticuts largest city was at one time the murder capitol of New England. The state will be cited by many Republicans in the future as what happens when far-left Democrats are in power for too long. Many areas look like they could be within the city-limits of Detroit.
Governor Malloy single-handedly destroyed Connecticut. When he was first elected, he thanked the citizens by imposing the largest tax hike on them in their states history. During his reelection campaign, he said he would never raise taxes again, then imposed the second largest tax hike in state history (after he was reelected).
Due to Malloys extreme incompetence, many large companies have run away from the state. One of these companies was General Electric, who had their world headquarters in the town of Fairfield. The only businesses thriving are moving companies, who have been reported as noticing many more people leaving Connecticut than coming in.
There are no jobs in Connecticut, even though they are a state known for their impressive universities. It has become commonplace for college graduates to leave the state and their families to make a life for themselves elsewhere. Elections have consequences, with Connecticuts elections breaking families apart.
I have personally known over twenty individuals that have left the state in just the last two years. The stories are always the same; there are no jobs, or the cost of doing business is ridiculous. Everyone leaves because of the far-left government. Everyone leaves because of their governor, who is always elected due to Connecticuts blue cities.
Make no mistake, the people in towns have no voice there are far fewer of them than city dwellers. These city voters are also known for their extreme cases of voter fraud. There is no chance of fixing the state. People can only flee if they are able to.
Sometimes walls are built to keep people in
Half the residents of Connecticut want to leave the state, but it is hard because its nearly impossible in many areas to sell your house and not take a massive financial hit. Entire areas have transformed from once-safe, friendly new neighborhoods to violent cesspools.
There are many cases of homeowners who bought condos for $150k a few years ago, to find that they are only worth $50k now. People have had hard times trying to just sign their mortgages over to others for tens of thousands less than they paid a short time earlier.
Connecticuts governor now refusing to follow federal immigration law
As reported by Breitbart, Connecticut Governor, Dannel Malloy, sent a memo to law enforcement officials across the state laying out his guidelines for them to refuse compliance with federal immigration law on Wednesday. Among other provisions, the memo informed state officers not to detain anyone based on their immigration status. Malloy insisted that ICE detainer requests should not be treated as an official order or warrant for a suspected illegal aliens detention.
Malloy went even farther saying that law enforcement personnel in the state should also refuse to allow federal immigration officials to have access to the illegal aliens in their custody, according to The Hill newspaper.
The economy in Connecticut is always among the worst in the nation. They even have the worst fiscal status in the nation. They have been named by multiple prominent magazines as having Americas worst Governor. There seems to be no way out, as informed citizens have no say in the way their state is run and its being run into the ground.
There are currently calls for President Trump to cut all federal funding to Connecticut. We will have to wait and see how Trump reacts to Malloys refusal to enforce federal law. Unfortunately, there are many who have been suffering in the state, and getting out looks more impossible by the day.
As was I. In the 50s and 60s it was a near-perfect place, How did this situation happen? It seems the state has done everything wrong for the past 30 years or so. Someone speculated that the irreversible slide can be traced back to putting in a state income tax, the wrong reaction to the loss of manufacturing.
“Like Detroit, only Detroit is about to turn around”
Oh, please, just stop it. That malarkey hasn’t washed in fifty years and it certainly won’t wash now. There is no basis for Detroit to “turn around” and you should stop mouthing such nonsense. If you really believe such stuff, then you really don’t know Detroit. Or Detroiters. Detroit is over 90% black and just had a Farrakhan rally a few days ago attended by thousands of black Moslems. Detroit is so over. Really.
good for you, William.
the good guys are dying or moving away while the bad guys are coming in and breeding more commies. The remaing good guys are prisoners and should not be forsaken.
There is a new conservative black state senator, George Logan, who could be the governerial hope in 6-12 years if the illegals are removed.
Hopefully not being able to sell their houses means the pinheads that created the mess have to stay put and not mess up other States like the Kali refugees are doing.
I was born and raised in Stamford also. Loved the area back then and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. But a good business opportunity presented itself and I moved to Florida nearly 45 years ago.
Sad to watch a once great state turn into such a crap pile. You couldn’t pay me enough to go back there to live now.
In the 50s and 60s it was a near-perfect place, How did this situation happen?
Libs.
Sad.
Fairfield boy myself. Felt like I was on the cover of Saturday Evening Post every day. He did paint the Tunix Hill fire station for a cover. The dogwoods, the university, the beaches and just the ultimate suburban town.
It was everything. Left for San Diego 30 years ago. It’s been a ride, now looking to leave here also.
Well you haven’t had President Donald Trump or Dr Ben Carson working on it. I think if jobs come back there is a large part of those Detroiters who might just surprise you.
Do I think it’s going to be all sunshine and roses? No, but it will get better
I’ve done some shopping in Spring Hill Florida. All I hear are NY and NJ accents. To paint with an excessively broad brush: who knew there were so many blue collar rednecks in NY in the first place?
It sort of reminds me of a comment I heard several decades ago about Washington University in St. Louis, MO, that it was a place NY Jews went to get away from NY Jews.
I guess it is just the nature of migration. The word goes out that a place is the place to be.
Well when you hit the bottom there is only one way to go. I liked Dave Bing and he had a lot of good ideas. But you can’t get anything accomplished when dealing with the Detroit City Counsel.
Same here. I hope our home keeps its value... I'm really worried about that. These F'ing liberal politicians! >:-(
It's almost a necessity to cut posters some slack on grammatical errors, primarily on Freepers rushing through responses without spellcheck.
But typos are usually obvious; grammatical errors by presumed professionals is not.
It's hard to dumb down reading when encountering blatant errors in writing and editing.
A city is now a building??
For the record, Connecticut also has the absolute worst traffic in the country. Pay the tolls to go up New York cross Massachusetts. You’ll be sorry if you don’t.
It must get worse. The voters with a brain are the ones moving out or desperately wanting to. The gibesmedats are also voters, and low IQ voters can't make long term decisions. Instant gratification (at no cost to themselves) is the rule.
Until everything collapses.
It's a perverted vicious cycle and, sorry to say, I feel perverse pleasure knowing that there might be a sicker state than my very own California. Misery indeed loves company.
Agreed. I used to make the run from Binghamton to Albany on old route 7. Very distressing to see so many old towns so tired and so empty.
The cities in Connecticut out vote anything of the suburbs. How can Bridgeport run out of ballots?? So, what state you recommend?
Funny.
Jump to conclusions. Nice
It seems there are no editors anymore.
Maybe they should have turned the condo into Section 8 housing, or rented it to three Somali families living off benefits, and retired rich on the proceeds.
