Hacksaw Ridge and Fences are the two best movies...Best story, best direction, best acting. Race has zero to do with it.
I’m not going to watch an award show run by leftist ‘entertainers’ that gives awards to leftist ‘entertainers’ for movies that nobody wants to see.
AA got is professors calling for the genocide of people just because their skin color might be white.

I can’t believe the crap they put out. Yes Hacksaw was wonderful but the other crap is sewage. It’s all this crap that over glorifies minorities and women and queers and portrays men like idiots— You know!! , MEN ( the ones that built this country).
Hacksaw Ridge was excellent. Fences was boring. Now if you want to see a decent good movie with African Americans in it then Hidden Figures is the one to see. Excellent. Lion was a good movie....although Nicole Kidman has no business being nominated for an academy award. I HATE to say this but Florence Foster movie with Meryl Streep was really good....can’t believe I am saying so but it was.
I haven’t seen any others.

Academy Awards....a celebration and acknowledgement by one group of lefties of their mutually anointed moral superiority. Jackie Mason is correct...we should instead be celebrating the best plumbers.
I agree, it feels like quota awards. They had endless fits and held their breath, now their bullying will pay off. I doubt anyone thinks black acting and black movies are all of a sudden better quality. And I wonder if the recipients will not have quite the satisfaction than if they had come by their awards honestly.
Just watched Hacksaw Ridge for the second time, and just now saw that Hugo Weaving (he played Tom Doss) was not nominated for BSA. He should have been.

What exactly does being Jewish have to do with watching the Academy awards?
Hidden Figures is clearly better than Fences. But I was under the impression it came out too late to be considered for Award this time. But I dont follow these things closely.

No surprise after the brouhaha over last year’s awards not going to the ‘corrrect’ pc movies/actors.
We can all post to it as to what we're doing at any given moment OTHER than watching the Oscars. If anyone gets super-lucky and finds anything anywhere on TV actually worthwhile watching, they can post the channel & program name.
Or if any FReepers with a sadistic masochistic death wish succumb to curiosity ("killed the cat!") and flip over to it and then run back to FR screaming, "Argh! I'm dying! My eyes! My eyes! My EEEEAAAAARRRRRSSSS!!" we can try to render First Aid to them ... have some favorite photos of Ronaldus Maximus Reagan ready to pop up in front of them as kind of a soothing ointment for their eyes. Same with RR's voice - to mitigate ear damage.
Perhaps one of us will volunteer to be "Designated Watcher" to watch it with the sound off, turned on only during commercials so they can report back to us on the list of advertisers. Others of us can quickly find & post contact info for those advertisers, and a list of brands they sell - for boycotting purposes.
Of course, that job could be hazardous, so perhaps rotate it between volunteers so they only spend a max of 5 minutes inside of the Hollywood Lethal Radiation Zone ... like in those nuclear sub movies where the reactor is melting down and each volunteer can only enter the lethal zone for 3 minutes max to bang on the stuck valve handle.

Being mad at how lousy the Academy Awards are or any award show is like getting mad that flies are landing on a pile of dog crap. I would like to know who watches these things, I mean come on already. It must be women and gay men I guess. Maybe secret aliens among us.
There’s an audience for the home jewelry shopping network and WNBA too. And their vote counts just as much as every one else’s.
