Trump and the Deep State

There is something reminiscent of Yogi Berra's famous "Déjà vu all over again" in all of this

Words have meaning. A word is a unit of language, consisting of one or more spoken sounds or their written representation that functions as a principal carrier of meaning. Rush Limbaugh is a master of the English language in my opinion on a par with Winston Churchill and is the undisputed American master of quips, labeling, and metaphors.

As if to prove the point, Rush has once again coined a phrase that sums up a cultural phenomenon. He has dubbed those Progressives embedded within the federal bureaucracy the Deep State. This label perfectly describes those protected by the civil service acts as well as those political appointees who might be termed BHO holdovers.

Rush rightfully declines to take credit for this term he first heard used recently from a conservative writer whose name I forget.

But, it is a term he can spread and get into everyday nomenclature. It usefully describes a difficult issue for our Republic to overcome.

Rush is the Man!

“Deep state” comes from the ‘90s when it was used to describe the ‘state within the state’ in Turkey. Kinda like the ‘Inner Party’ in ‘1984’.

I nearly laughed out loud in the Chris Wallace interview when he said to Rush “now you just used a phrase I’ve never heard before, Deep State”. I’m thinking, how could anyone never have heard this phrase? If he is really that oblivious, its just more proof that the media doesn’t have a clue.

Thrre are many good books out there on the Deep State. Just go to amazon and type “deep state” in the search box. You’ll get more than few hits. I’ve read most of them and they all range from good to great.

Yep.

Although they’re mostly rehashing Max Weber.

"The term, like many in politics, derives from the Greek language (κράτος εν κράτει, kratos en kratei, later adopted into Latin as imperium in imperio or status in statu)."
