Tech firm Levementum planning to add 175 high-wage jobs ($88,000 a year in Indiana)

Arizona-based tech firm Levementum LLC, which opened an Indianapolis office less than a year ago, announced expansion plans Wednesday that include creating as many as 175 jobs in Indiana over the next five years.

The customer-relationship management consultancy, which has 11 Indiana employees, plans to move in March to a 5,000-square-foot office space in The Union 525 building at 525 S. Meridian St. in downtown Indianapolis.

The company has been housed in co-working spaces in Fountain Square and Fletcher Place with some employees working remotely.

Indiana economic development officials said the company plans to hire consultants, developers and strategic account executives that will be paid more than double the state’s 2015 average wage of $21.21 per hour. That translates to more than $88,000 per year.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is expected to offer an incentive package to Levementum of up to $3.35 million in conditional tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants if the firm reaches the job-creation commitments. The incentive package is awaiting final approval from the IEDC and its board of directors.

The city of Indianapolis—in partnership with Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber—is offering a $50,000 performance-based grant to help offset relocation costs and job-training needs.

Levementum LLC, founded in the Phoenix area in 2006, opened its Indianapolis office last spring to work with client Salesforce Marketing Cloud, a division of San Francisco-based Salesforce.com that was born out of its acquisition of ExactTarget in 2013.

But Michael Burton, senior vice president of Levementum, said earlier this month that growth at the local office was being pushed by several new customers, including Bankrate, Beachbody LLC, Politico and Massage Envy Franchising LLC.

“Levementum is poised for growth, and Indy is an amazing city with a lot of ambition and hustle," Burton said in a written statement Wednesday that alluded to the firm’s nearness to Salesforce’s downtown office. "We have secured office space that is within five blocks of a key partner's office which will provide us the ability to continue to develop and grow that partnership and our consulting services.”

Salesforce this spring plans to move hundreds of employees into the former Chase Tower on Monument Circle, which has been renamed Salesforce Tower.

Levementum expects to build its local staff to 30 or 40 by the end of the year in a real-estate operation that allows adolescent tech companies to sign short-term office leases to accommodate growth. The Union 525 is based in a 121-year-old former school building not far from Lucas Oil Stadium.

“Selecting The Union 525 was appropriate for our expanding needs and fit well with our culture,” Burton said. “We look forward to rapidly expanding our team of local talent this year.”

Levementum, which has 42 employees nationwide, also operates a development center in El Paso, Texas. It offers customer-engagement solutions, concentrating on platforms and technologies that include CRM, marketing-automation integrations, predictive intelligence and the internet of things.

“I am thrilled Levementum is expanding in Indianapolis and look forward to what this announcement means for our city’s thriving tech ecosystem,” Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said in written comments.

In NYC, that makes you working class.

In Indiana, it must be worth three times as much than here.

Hell, Staten Island costs half of what Manhattan does to live and that’s a 15 mile distance.

$88,000 is a decent wage in most of the Midwest. My mortgage and lot rent (we’re in a brand-new manufactured home of about 1,600 square feet) is less than $1,000 a month combined.

I don’t live in Bugtussle, Tennessee either. I’m in the Dallas/Ft Worth metro-plex with just as much “culture” and entertainment as you have there, give or take.

I’m guessing you pay more than $1,000 per month?

My ex boss offered me to go down there with him to his new job going on 16 years now.

I know the prices.

The great part is I only have to live with that regret until I stop breathing.

My first wife wouldn’t let me take a contractor job on Kwajalein Island. Six figures (tax free), DOD dependent schools, officers club, commissary and BX. Could’ve saved up half a million in no time.
