Yes but the alleged lie was to Pence, not to NYT, WaPo, etc., so it is up to Pence to weigh the offense, which he apparently did... Flynn’s resignation letter alludes to it...
It wasn’t what the MSM is making it out to be. He never explicitly said the sanctions would be lifted. The harshest they could say is that he gave the “impression,” but the sanctions were never lifted after the election. I just don’t think, based on what liberal papers (even) printed, what he said was a big deal at all. The fact that Charles Krauthammer (a big Never Trump guy) is defending him, tells me something too.
According to emboldened leftists on Twitter, Bannon and Miller are next until they work their way up to Trump. Never give them an inch, Trump. I can all but guarantee Trump gained no new voters from doing this. All this did was demoralize his base and embolden his enemies.
Proving that we, unlike the left, hold those we appoint accountable.
Accountable for what exactly? He never said he would drop the sanctions. None of the three news outlets (NYT, WaPo, WSJ) can prove he said that. The most they could say is that he gave an “impression” that he would. He asked them not to retaliate (which was good for our country), and he said they could review things when Trump got in.
We aren’t going to get a medal from the left for holding our people “accountable.” They hate Trump just as much today and are emboldened. They are now going to investigate Trump, and they smell blood. They are going for other high profile Trump aides next. There will be no level playing field because the left won’t play by our rules. We’ve helped invigorate our opponents while demoralizing the base.
For lying, or appearing to lie about it. Like Nixon, who committed no crime but lied to cover a minor one up. Back then, I had voted him in and wanted him out.
But to call him a liar is an exaggeration, and it may be even false as you read there was no direct talk of sanctions being dropped. If you read you full initial post, you’ll see that he may not have felt he lied to Pence.
