Mike Ditka, the former coach of the Chicago Bears, two-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL Coach of the Year, said if one of his players took a knee during the National Anthem, they would never play for me ever again.
He also said young players, such as San Franciso 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, need to show respect for the game that has given them so much and stop acting like a bunch of fools out there. [ ]
Well, heres the thing. When we live in a society that pays attention to athletes, say, as greatly as they do to Kaepernick, then were foolish. I mean, athletes opinions are no different than anybody elses, theyre no more significant than anybody elses. Theyre no more important than anybody elses. Kaepernick would be an unknown, a complete unknown nobody would know who he was without the game of football, without the sport hes playing. And not to respect that, youve got be a pretty unintelligent person, I would think.

As stupid as you sound, I wouldn't expect you to get it, but the quote means that having exhausted all other options, the scoundrel will turn to a faux patriotism to try to save his hide. It does not mean that patriotism is bad, just that it is sometimes used as cover by unsavory people.
Been at the hooch tonight?
WHAT? Get rid of the national anthem??
I don’t give a flip what they do when they are not on the clock but, when they are playing, they can stuff their politics.
I have watched exactly zero minutes of football this season because of that dirty Q-tip looking moron and his acolytes.
If they were serious they would march and make all kinds of statements off the field but, as there is no penalty associated with their opinion it doesn’t cost them a thing.
They should also get rid of American “Ideal” commercials.
Celebrate the American Soldier. Natch.
Celebrate the Firefighter. Scrubbed.
Law Enforcement? Who?
Mom? Who is she?
Apple Pie? Not without a good cinnamon crust.
Coke? Mean Joe Greene was a putz...
Yuh know. American sports and celebrating American Exceptionalism are quaint “notions”. There “alot” of great countries.....
I suspect Lady GaGa will put on an amazing show that makes everyone stand up and say “America”
I have been pleasantly surprised by her of late.
“They should get rid of the national anthem”
“Seriously?!? Why????”
What they need to get rid of is the butchered versions.
Getting rid of it removes one more reminder that we're all supposed to be Americans.
Bull crap! Obama's seat was bought and paid for, not even Christ could have beaten him.......
I think I’m in before something happens.
Well spoken Iron Mike...
A player, and coach, when Men where Men, and respect was for God, Country, your opponents on the playing field.
suspect Lady GaGa will put on an amazing show that makes everyone stand up and say America
Agree Moment of Truth for Gaga.
She teamed with Tony Bennett to show her real singing skills, and dropped the “ meat dress routine”, she gave a very good Frank Sinatra tribute at a recent show.
To revert to “ pervert” at this time will throw away all that good will.
P.S. .. Quoting that famous Laura Ingrham line “ just shut up and sing” and she will be alright...
Absolutely. There is no reason for the national anthem to be played before a sporting event. It is pearls before swine. Never saw the point of it.
Bull crap! Obama’s seat was bought and paid for, not even Christ could have beaten him.......
*******
Silly and blasphemous?
Mike Ditka couldn’t get enough money in the state of Illinois? Are you joking? He’s the most famous celebrity in the state!
Mike Ditka couldnt get enough money in the state of Illinois?
You need votes in Chicago, not money.........And being a groomed black kid with big ears, Obama had access to whatever money he needed and all the votes the organizers could dig up for him........pun intended.
You actually think Ditka could have won?...LOL!
Old School.
You understand the difference between a state senate district and the entire state of Illinois?
Yes I do and I was responding to your comment about him running against Obama which was in reference to the following post:
He was going to run against Obama for the state senate in IL
So tell me what I missed here? What does the state of Illinois have to do with a run for the state Senate legislature in the 13th district where Obama resided and ran for the office?
Ditka either runs against Obama in the 13th District, where Obama won two elections as I stated previously, or Ditka runs in another district; in which case he's NOT running against Obama.......
Once again, what am I missing here? What are your trying to say?
