Do not allow the Tea Party to become a relic of the past. Weve come too far to stop fighting now.
Flashback to early-2009: The US was in the first one hundred days of the Barack Obama presidency. Many Americans already knew what to expect in the coming four (or eight) years. Others may have voted for President Obama hoping for the best but not realizing the kind of damage that he would be able to inflict upon our nation. Those who saw it coming had already begun to organize. We marched. We met. I attended a rally in Columbus, OH on April 15th, 2009 Tax Day. We had not even heard of the term Tea Party; but that was exactly what this was: A Tea Party rally. It consisted of hundreds of patriotic Americans concerned about the future of their country in general and, more specifically, the State of Ohio. John Kasich, at that time contemplating his initial run as Governor of Ohio, spoke at that event in a chilly rain.
The Tea Party is alive and well.
The tea party (or what would become the tea party) actually started in 2008 in response to the pending bank bailouts.
I know. I was there.
It later morphed into opposition to Obamacare and other issues.
Tea party or no tea party we must remain active and engaged with our government (no matter who is in office) and speak up strongly about things we don’t agree with. If we can join with others who feel the same on certain issues, all the better.
you are so right. i too remember it well. pelosi on the floor vainly trying to whip votes for the bank bailouts to save the chamber, too-big-to-fail banks, bush and the gopes. the tea party flashing into existence spontaneously as a massive movement on the phones.
then the deal between the suspended mccain, bush and obama to shut that movement down, mccain agreeing to throw his campaign.
then the courageous rick santelli crying out on the floor of the chicago mercantile exchange, giving a public voice to the tea party when few media outlets would even acknowledge its existence and galvanizing those millions of self-selected, self-generalled patriots inclined to protest into the streets throughout the states and eventually into the capital. yes, i remember it well.
yup, the tea party is alive and well and not going anywhere.
I still get emails from several Tea-Party labeled organizations, usually with a “send us money” theme following a scare-the-folks story. Any clue on which are legitimate?
Leave’em all alone. Ever heard of Populis vote and it’s sub group www.vote the will.org? It sure seems like a scam, scamadviser.com gave them a 30% reliability rating. They ask for a Pledge and then a credit card on the phone (NO) or to give them a checking account number and routing number over the phone (No)! Leave’em alone!
I am the vice chairman of the local Tea Party, we had a meeting tonite, I spoke, pointed out that the second American Revolution is underway, President Trump is only one man, he will need our help before this is over so we need to get to work. What I said was well received.
