Since Ronald Reagan enacted the Mexico City Policy otherwise known as the Global Gag Rule in 1984, each incoming Democratic president has moved to revoke it, while each incoming Republican president immediately reinstates it. As expected, President Donald Trump continued the tradition by signing the executive order that bans federal funding for international non-governmental organizations that offer abortions.
This essentially forces NGOs to choose whether they will continue to offer safe abortion access to women or lose the funding that allows them to provide other womens health services to the population they serve.
As an earlier Cut article on the policy points out, the 1973 Helms Amendment already prohibits foreign aid from going toward abortions; the Global Gag Rule goes a step further by barring NGOs who receive U.S. aid from providing abortions that theyre paying for themselves or with other funds....

It was the rule under Reagan and both Bushes. The world got along just fine.
What it WILL affect is the cushy jobs of people who channel 90% into their pockets and 10% into abortions.
It will assure that unborn girls grow to be women. In that sense, I agree with the article.
Seems to me paying for abortions in Zimbabwe really IS racist.
So again, explain to me how abortion is a “womans health” issue?
It’s more like a “babys health” issue, I’d say.
If it is so damned important to abort babies, then for those whom it is a religion to abort, they can find other ways to fund it.
Let their citizens pay for it though.
How is murdering babies a health threat?
Quick! Is there a way to short the aborted baby parts market?
It will also affect the life of the unborn for the better.
If we had to do anything I’d be for implanting birth control devices - since we probably couldn’t depend on them taking the pills.
At least there would be fewer people in these underdevelped countries who want to crash our borders when they grow up.
The billionaires funding for Billary, Inc. and all Leftist causes shows they can well afford to make up any difference in funding, GLOBALLY, for abortion.
What they want, what they really want, is to demand others fund abortion, and that’s all government funding for it is about.
How is it that women have been convinced that murdering your unborn child is “a right”, or even “healthy”?
So tired of the liberal hypocrisy speak.
How about getting the Hollywood kazillionaires to fund them?
Abortion is seriously wrong in every country.
On January 22, 1973, seven evil men with an already-decided agenda determined that it should be legal for the termination of an already-started human life. They used, as an argument, the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Harry Blackmun had written his opinion before they had heard the case.
The other six men were:
Warren E. Burger
William O. Douglas
William J. Brennan
Potter Stewart
Thurgood Marshall
Lewis F. Powell, Jr.
The decision was not allowed by the Constitution and Amendments 10 & 11. It was not legal for them to decide the way they did.
10th Amendment
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
11th Amendment:
The judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by citizens of another state, or by citizens or subjects of any foreign state.
Blackmuns decision basically says since New York has full access to abortion and one other state has partial access, the other 48 states have to allow full access to abortion.
Why should the American taxpayer pay for Turd World abortions?
How is it on you and me to pay for abortions in Zimbabwe?
George Soros could probably pay for every 3rd world abortion in the world
In fact, he might be happy to do so for extra points in hell
And why is world-wide women’s (or men’s) health our responsibility?
