Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Wednesday that it is possible President-elect Donald Trump will use executive action in his first days in office to secure the border with Mexico.
The comment from Pence comes days after Trump said that on Monday, which he considers his first day in office, he would sign an executive order covering strong borders.
Pence told MSNBCs Chuck Todd in an interview that the Trump administration is looking to sign executive orders and repeal those enacted by President Barack Obama in order to implement the new presidents agenda.
Todd asked Pence about Trumps comment that he would sign an order regarding secure borders. The vice president-elect said that Congress and him have been looking at existing legislation and existing funds to put Trumps promise to quickly build a border wall into practice.
Pence added that it is possible that the Trump administration starts on building a wall before Congress passes a law, but that they are flushing that out right now.
The Secure Fences Act of 2006 authorized the Department of Homeland Security to build nearly 700 miles of double-layered fencing on the Mexican border. Currently 36 miles of that fencing has been built.
Politifact reported that the Secure Fence Act and other existing laws give the secretary of homeland security broad powers when it comes to securing the border, so that construction wouldnt be limited to a double-layered fence.
*******BUILD IT!!!!********

The laws that Trump needs to handle illegal immigration are already on the books!
All he need do is ENFORCE them 100%
Pull funds from sanctuary cities.
Build the wall.
Put the military on the border until the wall is up.
Enforce laws against those hiring illegals.
Take a cut of any remittance going to mehico to pay for said wall.
Now read the article.
Well... he has a phone and a pen too, right?
The media has signed off on this approach so no problem I’m sure. /s
Whatever it takes. I don’t care how it gets done.
So long as it’s the Trump Administration making key decisions about it, not any foreign group. The funds may already be available. All one has to do is properly divert funds from other government projects, wasteful or redundant government projects, such as repeated EPA studies that prevent mining.
I wish President Trump would place our active duty military on the border immediately, prior to the wall actually being constructed.
“Put the military on the border until the wall is up.”
I can’t wait to hear the demonratic cocaine fiends whining about not being able to get their dope.
I don’t think he even needs what is currently called an EO. The President, as the Executive, is tasked with executing laws passed by Congress. Congress passed a law to build the Wall over a decade ago. It simply needs to be executed.
Don’t worry, Trump hears...and knows why he won the election.
The only questions now are what, exactly, will the wall look like, and which pot of money to use for the initial work.
Remember, it’s not like Bush/McCain/Romney winning, where they run over to the Democrat side and beg to be treated nice...it’s different with Trump.
Chain link and razor wire is effective, fast and economical.
Electrify it, just for fun.
How does he propose to do that? He can’t make laws by EO any more than Zero could.
The Wall will be made from pre-cast concrete slabs.
Fence Act 2006
But he can. It was just announced by Trump's staffers that Trump will sign a number of executive orders on Friday after inauguration, necessary for placing key staffers in place, followed by a signing of over 200 executive orders on Monday. That's a lot of orders within a few days, and they will be enacted as law by the other branches of government.
He ought to leave the military at the border even after the wall is up IMO.
