Several of the tactical shooting courses I’ve attended taught this sort of shooting. It’s been a while for me, but I remember the adrenaline from shooting so close to the body. It seemed counter-intuitive, like I’d be hurt somehow, but I never felt so much as a grain of powder hit my body as I fired from “position 1.”
Wholeheartedly agree that such is THE way to practice shooting a handgun.

When I got my carry permit back in the early 90’s, I trained with the fellow that qualified both our local police as well as troopers. I trained with him for about 3 years, and had to do this drill almost every time I shot with him.
