What the heck is it with all this “Bam, Kaboom” stuff about Trey Gowdy? Who are you? Are you his PR guy? I have ambivalent feelings about his effectiveness, especially with respect to Benghazi investigations, but I don’t hate or love him either way.

This is like the third thread I’ve seen in a very short span and I’d like to know what’s so great about this whatever revelation. I read the source links on all three and they were basically milquetoast if you ask me.

I get why so many are enamored by his rhetoric and record as a prosecutor. I just wish there was more to show for his congressional efforts.

I’ll keep an open mind because if he’s going to be able to accomplish anything, it should be under a Trump administration.

I’m not impressed with his showmanship.
I’m as suspicious of him as any other South Carolina Cheap Labor Express Republican.

Gowdy, who represents South Carolina’s manufacturing-heavy fourth district (including Greenville and Spartanburg), emphasized that labor shortages persist in several low-skilled sectors of the American economy, notwithstanding overall high rates of unemployment. “I will go on another plant tour this afternoon,” he told Laura Ingraham on her radio show. “I wish you would go on plant tours with me . . . and ask the question, ‘Do you have any openings?’ And 99 percent of the time, the answer is yes.” He said that in many cases due to visa restrictions, for farm labor, “It is actually costlier to hire an immigrant. And yet the farm worker is almost invariably an immigrant. You can’t pay an American to pick blueberries.”

From the article: “Protecting the safety and security of our fellow citizens is the preeminent function of government,” Gowdy said in a statement, according to The Greenville News.

Gowdy was recently appointed to serve on an existing committee.

January 13, 2017 Press Release
Washington, DC – Rep. Trey Gowdy (SC-04) released the following statement after being appointed to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:

“Protecting the safety and security of our fellow citizens is the preeminent function of government. When it comes to our national security, we cannot afford to take risks. The House Intelligence Committee plays a vital role in protecting Americans both at home and abroad through conducting thorough oversight of our nation’s intelligence agencies. I look forward to joining the House Intelligence Committee and working with Chairman Nunes and my colleagues to ensure national security remains the top priority in the 115th Congress.”

Background –
This is the first time a member from South Carolina has ever been named to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
As the former Chairman of the Select Committee on Benghazi, Rep. Gowdy brings to the House Intelligence Committee experience in working directly with our nation’s intelligence agencies, including but not limited to, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Department of Defense (DOD), and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).

From Greenville online:

Excerpt:
Gowdy was appointed to the panel by House Republican leaders. He will continue to serve on three other committees: ethics, oversight and government reform and judiciary.

Created in 1977, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has never had a member from South Carolina, according to the Congressional Research Service.

I guess I like Gowdy, but his rhetoric seems more aimed at saber rattling for the sake of fund-raising than actually having any sort of consequences.

Maybe that will change now. I hope so.

Oh, he’s a good talker, no doubt. However as to actually doing something, Gowdy’s about the same level of hack as the rest of the Congress.

I thought that Howdy/Gowdy was not going to run again?

As usual, a rough, tough prosecutor, just like Daryl Issa, proves that under fire, his balls become B-Bs or maybe mouse-nuts.

Typical politician, all talk, no action.

That fanatical whore should be in prison, but gowdy is too proper, too refined, too civil and in reality, too damned scared.
