A district court judge in Texas has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed by Ahmed Mohamed on his own behalf and on behalf of his 15-year-old son, Ahmed Mohamed. They had sued Fox News, Glenn Beck, and the mayor of Irving -- among others -- for defamation in September of 2016.
A year earlier, Ahmed, then a 14-year-old freshman at an Irving, Texas, high school, was arrested, briefly detained by police, and suspended for three days after bringing to school a "cool clock" that looked like a briefcase bomb. Ahmed claimed to have "invented" the easily assembled clock, and that he had brought it to school to show it to his shop teacher.
The incident led many to question the Mohamed family's motives. Newly appointed District Court Judge Maricela Moore dismissed the lawsuit following a nearly three-hour hearing on Monday, according to the American Freedom Law Center

What lawyer recommended a defamation suit? Of all the things they might have claimed, defamation was probably the hardest to win.
Next step, detonate his “clock” in retaliation?
During the lengthy hearing, Judge Moore pressed Mohamed’s lawyer, Fort Worth attorney Susan Hutchison, to provide any facts that would suggest that Hanson and the other defendants had said anything false or defamatory about Mohamed or his son during the television broadcasts. After spending a painfully embarrassing 15 minutes flipping through reams of paper, Mohamed’s lawyer was unable to provide any such evidence.

The objective was to create a faux "martyr" out of the teenage son of a Muslim Grievance Professional who had a history of filing lawsuits over perceived anti-Muslim bias.
LIE #1: It was NOT a clock. It was a time-down timer.
BIG DIFFERENCE: A clock looks like a clock. This was a timedown timer that goes backwards towards "00".
It had the big red LED's and looked identical to the props Hollywood uses every day to build tension while the hero tries to stop the bomb that's fast approaching the last second.
LIE #2: He did NOT build it. He did the opposite. He took apart a vintage 1980s 9V-battery-operated Radio Shack LED timedown timer by opening it up, throwing away the case, and placing the guts of it into a briefcase or suitcase in a way that it looked EXACTLY LIKE a suitcase bomb, complete with bright red numbers ticking down to zero.
TRUTH: IT WAS PURPOSELY DESIGNED TO FOOL PEOPLE INTO THINKING IT WAS A BOMB.
A teacher or staffer who saw it, and who knew he'd lose his job in a heartbeat if he didn't immediately report to the authorities a realistic-looking fake weapon like a plastic gun or knife brought into school, did the right thing and called the administration and/or 911.
Mission Accomplished: Instant International Celebrity status as a poor young innocent victim of virulent anti-Muslim suspicions. He got invited with his family to dine at the White House before they embarked on their follow-up Victory Tour through Muslim capitals the world over, a full scholarship to some Persian Gulf micro-emirate, interviews on MSM talkshows, you name it.
But none of this would have happened if the MSM had told the truth with headlines like: "Kid in trouble for bringing fake bomb to school"
Instead they pushed the meme, "Young Muslim Electronic-Clock-Building Genius Persecuted by Ignorant Xenophobic ....."
And the rest is history.
(Hey, is there a meme somewhere in that phrase, re "going backwards towards Zero"?)
