In response to Trump's tweet, Toyota said in a statement that the new Mexican plant will not cut its U.S. employment, adding that it "looks forward to collaborating with the Trump administration to serve in the best interests of consumers and the automotive industry."

Not good enough...

I liked his tweet right before that: Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump 6h6 hours ago to make up their own minds as to the truth. The media lies to make it look like I am against "Intelligence" when in fact I am a big fan!

For people who don’t understand how high-powered people do things, these tweets by Trump are all establishing a bargaining position.

He is staking out the ground early so it puts the other side on the defensive. Bargaining from the position of power is ALWAYS advantageous.

Trust me, there will be no tariff wars or anything else of the kind. There WILL be more jobs for Americans and less runaway capital.

And, of course, more WINNING!

MAGA!

Toyota just wanted some of the free publicity that Ford and Chevy are getting.

Toyota is a foreign company with manufacturing plants in the United States, as well as many other parts of the world. If they’re proposing to reduce their presence in the US in favor of manufacturing in Mexico, then importing to the US, this makes sense. If not, it doesn’t.

Wish we could still buy those little 1980s Toyota pickups in the US. Good vehicles and dirt cheap. Think they're only sold elsewhere.

The Mexican facility takes over production from a closed factory in Canada. It was announced about a year ago. Other North American Corollas are built in a newer Mississippi facility.
