In Germany in 1938, Adolf Hitler outlawed homeschooling. He said “Give me a child when he’s seven and he’s mine forever.”
Hitler’s ban on homeschooling is still in effect today. In 2006, Katharina Plett was arrested for homeschooling her own children. Her husband and their children fled the country. In 2008, Juergen and Rosemary Dudek were sentenced to 90 days in jail for homeschooling their own children.
Uwe and Hannelore Romeike and their homeschooled children fled Germany after the police showed up at their house to enforce Germany’s ban on homeschooling. They came to the United States. However, in March 2013, the Obama administration argued in federal court in favor of deporting them and sending them back to Germany.
I am opposed to granting these people asylum which would have made them virtuallly instant American citizens.
Sorry Germany doesn't let them homeschool but, as far as I'm concerned, that does not make them refugees.

Put them on the inauguration stage along with Dannye Williams and the family of Mary Jo Kopechene.

The first thing Germany should have done after WW2 is get rid of Hitler’s laws.
I beg to disagree. “Enforcing Germany’s ban on homeschooling” translates as, “taking the children away from their parents and placing them into state ‘care’, and, ultimately, sending the parents to prison if they do not comply.”
Then any German could claim asylum based on that alone.
Asylum is supposed to be granted for situations where people are in legitimate threat of being killed, imprisoned by political enemies, religious persecution, etc.
It’s not like this family was being singled out. No one in Germany can homeschool their kids, and if it were a major issue for Germans then the law would have been overturned. For Gods sake Hitler is the one that enacted it. You’d think it would be easy to overturn.
HSLDA brought them here specifically to challenge American laws. They could have moved to any other European country and been allowed to legally homeschool.
German law sucks, but if you want to become an American get in line.

Then we should not offer asylum to anyone since there are vast numbers of Christians being slaughtered in the Middle East & parts of Africa on the basis of their religion. If we allowed one in we would have to allow all in using your logic.
