It's hard to blame anyone for not taking Trump seriously, since it's not clear how serious Trump himself was about actually becoming president. One former campaign staffer said in March that Trump was supposed to be a protest candidate, and after the election a Chris Christie aide told CNN that Trump thought he'd be done by October 2015.

B.S. meter is pegging!! Even when I was a Cruz supporter, I knew that if Trump was willing to lose out on the Macy's contract, etc. that he was in it for real. That was in about August 2015, and I wasn't even ON the Trump Train then, I knew he was in when he put skin in the game, and he did.

The electoral vote works this was......once your party has earned the electoral vote for your state.....the rest of the votes are meaningless.
