Donald Trump is about to lead the West into the third and darkest phase of its 15-year quest to neutralize the threat of Islamic extremism. The first was George W. Bush’s freedom initiative, which posited that political liberalization in the Middle East’s rotting autocracies would dry up terrorist recruiting. The second was the engagement policy of Barack Obama, who bet that respectful dialogue and attention to Muslim demands for justice — above all for the Palestinians — would make the West a less compelling target.
Both were widely judged to be failures. Now the new president will embrace the approach that both Bush and Obama explicitly ruled out as morally wrong and practically counterproductive: civilizational conflict.
The outlines of what might well be called the Trump crusade are easily located in the rhetoric of Stephen K. Bannon, Michael T. Flynn, Jeff Sessions and other Trump appointees. They describe a “long history of the Judeo-Christian West struggle against Islam,” as Bannon put it, or “a world war against a messianic mass movement of evil people,” as Flynn, the incoming national security adviser, has written.

For the life of me I don’t know why taking a fight to and killing people who want to dominate the world and kill everyone who doesn’t agree with them is controversial. Seems to me it’s the only option! Didn’t we learn that from Hitler? We had no problem taking the fight to and exterminating that bunch - what’s the diff?
Just look who Trump is surrounding himself with; no nonsense warriors who know what islam truly is.
President Trump should tell the Nation and the World that Islam had a chance to make peace with the USA when it had a muslim president, but now all bets are off. We will impose by whatever means necessary to end this conflict on America’s terms.
That’s all fine and good...but I haven’t heard Trump taking his Oath of Office yet...and I haven’t seen anything other than in his rallies saying “ISIS” will be gone...
We have enough ‘warmongers’ with McCain and his rabid bunch, lets not pick up with them...

Bush coined the phrase “religion of peace” and pressured Israel into giving up Gaza in the hope that democracy (as opposed to republicanism) would lead to peace. Hamas took over and never held an election ever since. Obama campaigned on not being like Bush but adopted the worst of his policies!
