Why Aren't Police Allowed Humor?

As soon as Cops show any sense of joking, the vestal virgins of the left pile on them.

I thought we needed Cops to laugh more, not less.

My cousin is a LEO in Southern California, soon to be retired after 30 years. He used to laugh and had a great sense of humor and practical jokes like the rest of the family. My grandfather asked him one time why he was so somber now and he said “Every day I see the worst in humanity, not much left to laugh about”

Because joking around on the job is generally frowned upon by the people paying for it.

In this case, there should be no doubt that these people were hired to be doing something more important with their time.

Easy to be jolly about it when it’s not your own dollar being spent on it or case being unattended due to such a diversion.

In my final job with a Fortune 500 company, I had to sign a multi-page “ethics” statement. One of the many things forbidden; “Under no circumstances will you ever tell a joke. This can be grounds for dismissal.” I asked the HR lady why and she said, with round eyes and concern, “You have NO idea who you might offend.”

I’ve noticed that young people don’t joke and laugh as much as we did in my day. I think it’s because of all the sensitivity training.

Natan Scharanski wrote a book “The case for Democracy”. He gave an amazing explanation as to why totalitarians universally and viciously suppress any humor.
They know they operate in the absurd and anyone pointing that out it destroying the very foundation of their existence.
