The Democrats’ extensive losses in the 2010 and 2014 midterms (as well as other off-year elections in 2009, 2011, 2015 and the Governors races in 2012) have left their party hollowed out beneath the White House, which is one reason why the top two contenders in their presidential primary are a 68-year-old who arrived in Washington in 1993, and a 74-year-old who has never held a leadership position in Congress. But beyond the sheer numbers of losses in the Senate, House, Governorships, and state legislatures, there is also the fact that the GOP is building a strong, deep farm team while the Democrats are aging and not replacing their leaders with much in the way of new blood.

It’s important to keep the pressure on. Typically off-year elections swing the other way from the general, so 2018 could be a tough year for us, but if we start now, we’ve got a good shot at extending our gains. If we pick up seats in 2018, we’re likely in for at least 8 years, which is about what it will take to fully turn this country around.
Those e-mails are golden. We need to collate them and paint a clear picture of deep corruption, lies and pay-for-play. We can mine that gold for years, talking about how corrupt the Dems and the media are. We can prove it now.

Yeah, RedState probably was a big NeverTrumper site, or at least I’ll take your word for it since I rarely read them.
In this case they were running down Democrats. We and NeverTrumpers disagreed on how to win against Dems, but we did agree that the Dems needed to lose.
