Freeing locked-up bucks is always risky, generally locked-up bucks are usually dead. Antler entanglement is the norm, while fighting can lead to the demise of some whitetail. The video below highlights our heroes untangling the two gladiators. Unfortunately, one buck has succumbed to exhaustion or injury and had a portion of his hind quarters eaten by a predator. The other is trying to rid himself of his adversary. See the action here.

I looked at a set of these racks on skulls a few years ago to figure how they get hung up.
All I can figure is during the rut, the bucks collide and hit so hard one will actually flip over the others back. This entangles the horns in such a way they cannot normally get loose.

A few years back in, I think it was VA, a kid shot a 17 point that had the rotting head of a 10 point stuck in his antlers.
If you’re a buck and you come across that in your quest to slake that drive to reproduce, that sight might just have it go gay...

That first sentence makes no sense to me. How can freeing them always be dangerous if they're generally dead?

Why don’t we ever see that the best way to control them is to blindfold them. Cows and horses will not run if they have a blindfold on them. About the only movement that I’ve ever experienced from livestock is they’ll throw their head trying to flick the blindfold off.
