A Donald Trump Make America Great Again hat is once again stirring tempers at Calgary universities this time leading to a physical altercation.
According to a University of Calgary statement, a fight broke out between two males, one of who was confirmed to be a university student, around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
Andrew Brookman, a political science major, alleges that someone called him over, referencing the hat, and what looked to be a fist bump quickly escalated.
Minor injuries were sustained, and both individuals were treated at the scene. Neither was sent to hospital. Brookman said he had never met the individual before.
Brookman said he didnt have hostile intentions when donning the cap which hes worn before but wears to encourage healthy debate.
He is a supporter of Donald Trump, but can see where some of the presidential candidate's rhetoric could create tense situations.
As someone whos lived in countries with dictators, Brookman believes its important to be able to express their political beliefs.
Ive taken up the Donald Trump crusade because I believe that the political bullying of individuals who support any candidate is unfair, he said. If someone wears a Hilary Clinton hat, a Justin Trudeau hat, even a Marxist-Leninist hat, they should 100 per cent have the right to express their views in a productive way.
Brookman said he doesnt agree with all of Trumps policies. Brookman was engaged in discourse with a group of students before the fight, but on the topic of Trumps more controversial comments, especially towards Hispanics or his Muslim ban, Brookman doesnt believe those matters were discussed at the time of the incident.
According to the University, police do not intend to lay any charges.
It was almost exactly one month ago that video of Mount Royal University student Matt Linder being verbally harangued for his pro-Trump headgear went viral, garnering coverage from media across North America.
Or "whom"... <sigh>
I thought Canada was supposed to have an educational system superior to the one here?
I have been a bit ambivalent voting for Trump but the way libbys lose their last neurons this will be fun just to mess with their tiny little brain stems.
Trump should run for Prime Minister of Canada, as well! ;)
What is up with modern journalism? The grammar is atrocious.
They graduated from public school, provided they graduated at all. You make the call. ;)
Good to see a Trump supporter used his fists too finally.
Some prepositions can be tricky but this bonehead common carelessness makes me wish more adults would post...
It's not crucial usually, for its intended function, but then, why not just ebonics? or pig latin?
its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's its it's
Amazing that even outside the US, American politics has stirred such emotional responses.
The Trump “movement” has captured people all over the world. They are finally ready to jettison the PC brown shirts.
The headline should have been: “Man wearing Make America Great Again hat viciously attacked”.
I noticed they didn’t disclose the name of the attacker...
“I have been a bit ambivalent voting for Trump...”
You actually considered that you would be OK with Crooked, Lying, Conniving, America hating, BLM loving, Constitution dismantling, open border, muslim loving, Hildabeast?????
And you’re a freeper?
Don’t think you understand my point. I’m one person who is tired of having to pick between a radical leftist or say a TEA party person that spews all the right stuff just to be voted in and we find he/she was as bad as the rest. My ambivalence is there has been no choice for many many years. I could never vote Hillary. Never. Ever, ever.
I didn’t say or even think that you would literally cast a vote for Hillary. But doing anything other than explicitly casting a vote for Trump would essentially have the same effect. Or at best would be saying that there isn’t enough of a difference between the two for you to be able to judge who would be best (or least worse) for the country.
My fear is how I was bamboozled by all those people that latched on to the TEA party and we ( I) see/hear nothing from those people. With Trump we'll see the leftists explode but without him we'll merely see the same in a year or so as Clinton shreds the last of the constitution, As far as I'm concerned Trump will not be able to clean house fast enough should he become our 45th president. Keep your powder dry FRiend, I fear for our our nation more so than ever in my life.
I sure hope Clinonistas and Soetero and Soros( and and and) all the muslim b-hood get shipped to a black site somewhere and disappeared.
