K is a Nazi.
Fortunately, Israel is stronger now and doesn’t have to cooperate with Nazi or IslamoNazi plans to destroy her.

“The Egyptians are carrying suitcases.”

Suitcases that turned out to be anti tank missiles.

“The Valley Of Tears” is well named.

The Syrian Soldiers in that war have been labeled as being inept, but they kept on coming even though the vehicles around them were going up in flames.

The story of Avigdor Kahalani is engrossing.

I think he was seriously wounded in the Sinai in the 1967 war.

The timeline here is fascinating to me as I saw events which indicate that the U.S. knew war was coming and was aiding Israel well beforehand.

I graduated Troy University in June 1973, Months before the war. Sometime a few months before that, our class had taken a three day field trip to Mobile, Alabama.

We spent most of our time interviewing businesses in downtown Mobile, also visiting a large Mall and the closed Air Force Base whose name I have a mental block right now.

We also visited the Alabama State Docks. When we got there, we saw an incredible sight. Literally hundreds of tanks and other armored vehicles all around the port. It might even have been in the thousands.

Our professor sent me and Barry Diamond, to ask a crew member of one of the ships where the tanks were going. He told us they were being shipped to Israel. BTW, Barry is now a comedian and has been on Seinfeld.

It did strike me as fascinating that so much military goods were going to a single country.

What it all meant, I still don’t know. I do know it happened tho.

Pretty much a BS story as far as the American response goes.

Kissinger did request that Israel not launch a preemptive attack which was a bad thing, but Nixon mobilized the American military logistics system with an order to his Generals ,” There is no time. You know what they will need so start to pull anything and everything they could possibly need and send it now- even if they have not requested it”

The aid was mobilized and got there just in time even with Nixon's order, but it got there.

This is as per Menachm Begin long after Nixon was gone in disgrace.

In Begins words, “God bless Richard Nixon, he saved the State of Israel”

This is a very strange triple post.

I only hit post once but got a server 401 error or something like that. I hit the back button, copied my post just in case it had not posted then just scanned the thread.

Not only did the post get posted, it did so 3 times.

The Soviet Union threatened to intervene with special forces but the 6th fleet was ordered to interdict and the Soviets backed down before the cease fire went into effect.

No mention of the fact Nixon activated many ex-military men. Ask me how I know. Forward units began to deploy. And check out the photos of the 175MM SP Guns and tell me how they are "different" from others?

Nixon built and air-bridge to Israel from Europe which was fed by and air-bridge from USA to Europe. Naval assets were flowing toward Israel. On and on...

I went on leave from my submarine in the Mediterranean on October 6, 1973. There was extra security at the Rome Airport, but I really didn’t think anything of it. When I got to New York to change planes for Groton, CT, I called my wife, and the first thing she asked me was when I had to go back! That was the first time I heard of the war.

After my two weeks of leave, the Squadron sent me back to Submarine Group Eight in Naples, because, while we “weren’t responding to the war,” TREPANG had left port early. It turned out that the skipper of the first submarine I had ever ridden on was the US Chief of Staff at SUBGRU8 and he handed me two weeks of message traffic and told me to write that Mission Report for SUBGRU8. Shortly before it was over, I was sent out to be the submarine liaison officer to CTF 69 INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) for a week or so.

This account matches my recollection of what was going on.

My best Jewish friend ever fought in a tank squad as a demolition guy in the Syrian theatre

He said the Syrians were hapless and caved quick and preferred surrender to IDF over retreating to Big Assad

He said they were not prepared to handle so many prisoners

Typical Arabs frankly.....sorry T.E.

There was no Hezbollah then

Nixon did that and a lot more.

The disaster was entirely on the Israeli leadership - primarily Golda Meir, Def Min. Moshe Dyan, IDF David Elazar and Mossad’sl Zvi Zamir.

The attack was no surprise, the Israeli leadership just refused to prepare even the most basic steps to mobilize until it was far too late.

Despite many hit movies, Special Forces in a highly dynamic mechanized desert war aren’t much use.

The ROP called The Ramadan War. What did Israel have to atone for in calling it the Yom Kippur war?
