After Obama practically decimated the US military and handed Putin everything he wanted and probably more on all-important missile defense and nukes, including the especially dangerous Iran nuke deal, which Putin loves and claims to have played a major role in, they’re talking about going to war with Russia? Sounds like a “set up” to me.
1). McCain is a nut - how DARE he push for war with any nation, let alone Russia.
2) Neither side will permit itself to lose conventionally to the other,,,but one will lose, and then resort to tactical nukes. If we do that, the Russians will first strike us 10 minutes later. They KNOW it will escalate, and they will not wait to be slammed hard like in 1941. If they feel the need to go nuclear to stop a conventional loss, they will START with a first strike...for the reason s stated before.

Depends on what Russia sees as the most probable outcomes in the wargames it constantly plays.
If they see protracted attrition in the military and financial spheres as inevitable, then the real question is whether or not Russia can take out every major city in the US that is within two hundred miles of a seacoast within the first three to six minutes after the first launch is detected because Russia will never again let itself be forced into a war of attrition (on any level really, not just on the military level).
With sub launched hypersonic nukes that is, in fact, just becoming possible. Once that type of weapon is advanced to the point that seeing it coming is difficult, or nearly impossible, until it rises to detonation altitude how well the US can react when decapitated rather than how well it can react within the first few minutes after an attack is detected becomes the important question.
Therefore, if the US follows the course McCain and the NeoCons advocate, the real question is whether Russia believes it is more capable of surviving a retaliatory strike than the idiots like McCain and the NeoCon BS corps believe the US is.
Remember a few things from history as you consider the present :
1) Pearl Harbor is too shallow for torpedo attacks and therefore it's safe to forward base
the Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor
2) It is impossible for a large military force, especially a mechanized force, to attack through
the Ardennes into France.
3) Air Marshal Goring can without a doubt keep enemy bombers from ever reaching the industrial Ruhr or the Berlin area, so relocating industry further east and building all new industry in the east is a waste of resources.
4) When speaking of the invasion of Russia,“You have only to kick in the door,” said
