If you grew up during the era of big wheels, horrid hair styles, and the Reagan administration, you probably grew up thinking that green plant you see above you was a really dangerous item. This is especially true if you grew up a Christian during that era.
I mean, it was the lowest level drug on the list of drugs, but it was the gateway drug. This gateway drug was to be especially feared, because it represented the slippery slope to every other drug or form of immorality. Even trying it once could result in you no longer wanting to wear your denim skirt. Try it twice and you might swap out Sandi Patty for Motley Crue. Three times? Well, by the third time you wouldnt even want it anymore, because youll be in a dark ally buying an even harder drug with the money you got from pawning your wedding ring.
It was all a bunch of nonsense.
All these years later, it is still a bunch of nonsense.

Next you’ll want to confiscate my depleted uranium BBs!
I have lived with the destructive consequences of illegal drug use which began with recreational marijuana use.
The complete destruction of my family, the transfer of everything my grandparents, and parents had to pay for a drug habit of Crack, Meth, Heroin, alcohol, tobacco, down to Robitussin.
You’re right ....it’s not even close.
It needs to remain illegal, and the penalties increased for traffickers.
Show me where in the Constitution the people gave Congress the power to make laws prohibiting chemicals.
The 18th Amendment concerned only alcohol, and that was repealed.
wow brilliant deduction, because NOTHING was invented before 1937 right?
Funny how that correlates with the end of prohibition huh, you have bought the government line and their teaching on Marijuana hook line and sinker... How did the world survive for all those years without it being illegal? Sure is a better place now because that evil weed is illegal though... keep telling yourself that.
the government tell me their is no medical use whatsoever, yet they hold patent #6,630,507 just in case right?
Eh.
God made the coca and poppy plant too, but I don’t think the products of those plants should be legalized.
At the same time, I also don’t believe that the products of those plants being illegal makes any actual difference.
We are the ultimate guardians of our bodies.
We have the final say over what goes in and what does not.
Choose wisely, because you only get one.
We cannot save everyone from themselves.
We can only save our self from our self.
Good luck getting prohibitionists to answer that. For them, the Constitution is an obstacle to be overcome.
Big deal. I can point you to just as many families brought to financial ruin by arrests, children placed into foster homes, years behind bars, and people losing large sums of honest money to cops because of the war on drugs.
The problem of one loser in your nice family isn’t a good method of establishing what should be legal. That dimwit would have soaked the family for cash no matter what the legality was. The family should have said no and left him to his self chosen fate.
Without pot, huge swaths of our most revered music wouldn’t exist.
Genesis 1:29-30 (KJV)
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Read it again. I am saying (sarcastically) that the people before 1937 were stupid (in the eyes of many here)
And yes, after the end of prohibition, a lot of G-men needed new work. They needed something that would keep them employed, and expand federal power.
A retarded movie got made, and everyone thinks a toke induces homicidal crazed behavior.
And the damage is done by its illegality, not from its effects.
I was taught Father, Son, Holy Ghost, all one being...
One of my best friends ever was an ordained Pentecostal minister for the US armed forces. He was a believer in that MJ was created by God for our responsible use.
Was it Jesus or God? Either way God created Hemlock too..........
Not advocating for them, but from my reading, the natives that chew on those plants leaves/pods in a natural state don't suffer nearly the same negative effects that those who get hooked on the processed versions do...
“God made the coca and poppy plant too, but I dont think the products of those plants should be legalized.”
Next time you see a Coca-Cola vending machine, look at it. Stare at it until you see “coca” in giant letters. Ponder what that means. Ask yourself if Mr Pembertons drink from Atlanta was destroying American lives. I cant remember that it ever did.
Sorry missed that... My bad.
I wondered about that as I re-read it after I posted.
Mmm, well it did use to have cocaine in it many moons ago.
And I’m pretty sure I got diabetes from drinking too much coke.
But whatever, it didn’t destroy my life. I’m in very good shape now.
One can make excuses for fogging their minds with that drug all day long. I, and a lot of other Americans do not buy it.
I will reiterate what I had posted before, that I watched an hour long discussion on public television. At the very end the commentator asked a member of the DEA who had sat quietly for the entire hour, if he thought that marijuana was the source of other drug problems.
The DEA agent said ‘I don’t know. All I do know is that in all my years for this agency, I have never arrested anyone for drug abuses who did not start on marijuana’. That is enough for me!
And Aleppo is in New Jersey.
Yep, they do.
But like I said we are the ultimate guardians of our own bodies.
We are the gate keepers. Various laws are not the gatekeepers.
Whether or not cocaine is illegal does not really enter into the equation of people who choose to use coke.
I prefer coke remain illegal. It doesn’t make sense to legalize it to me. But is that law going to stop or affect coke use in this world... nope.
The only thing that would really stop it is if people chose to stop using it.
Close the gate. That’s all.
