First, though I am a transplant, I knew even growing up in Connecticut that Civil War was a misnomer. Secession is not the same as Civil War. The colonies’ war with England was NOT a Civil War. I normally refer to it as the War of 1861, as that is not weighted in any direction. Of course War Between the States and War of Northern Aggression are other names popularly given.

What the author describes WOULD be a Civil War. While there are still Red states and Blue states, there are people on both sides, everywhere, even in the cities.

Looks like it’s going to be a super-deadly, super-toxic mix of the worst the Balkans had to offer and the South american “Dirty Wars”.

I hope to be dug in as best I can before that goes down.

Please read these two articles one after the other, and understand that it’s very unlikely that there will be a smooth transition of power in January.

I've read and liked your books, Matt, but I think you're making this one too complicated.

All they have to do is bring in five or ten or fifteen million Mooslims and wait for us to defend ourselves against them, then the US feral government will declare a just war on natural born citizens.

I’ve spoken of a similar scenario...I think it is highly likely if she wins. It might take a while for it to happen...but it will if the court swings left of commie. There will be states, like my state of Texas, that won’t sit by and obey that ruling. Then...it’s on.

I suspect that anticipation of your scenario is one reason that the government has moved so many MRAPS back to the US and given them to police departments. No place on a modern battlefield, but plenty good enough to oppress a civilian population armed only with small arms.

Too direct. The Left has learned that straight-up bans & mass confiscation don’t work politically. The support isn’t there, the opposition is, and they know it. They’re already heading elsewhere: kill the supply chain, choke out businesses, end imports. Yes they’ll probably revisit _Heller_ and leverage the fact that (despite the footnote that says M16s _should_ be legal, just awaiting a suitable case) NFA & 922(o) have held up for decades. Remember the end of “Sundown at Coffin Rock”. I can’t quite rationalize how they’ll speed up that ending, but I’m sure it won’t be thru straight confiscation: too many are just looking for a frontal assault and want a showdown; the Left knows to avoid that.

it will be much like the Revolutionary War where Tories and Patriots often lived close to each other. Not a pretty scenario at all.

You have proposed a scenario that I have also been thinking about for awhile. That is indeed a plausible manner in which a confrontation could get started.

There are others, but this one certainly seems sound to me.

I have had the same nightmare with a President Hillary gutting both the First and Second Amendments. My scenario is that the US military who swear allegiance to the Constitution would step in and overthrow the tyrant.

I know a lot of cops and many military folks. As a matter of fact Jr in in the Army. I really find it hard to believe that those groups would/could support a 2nd Amendment tear down.

If you read the Oaths of Commissioned and Non Commissioned Officers alike you will notice first and foremost that is states: that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic

That I will obey the President is secondary. This was written in that order intentionally. So let me repeat, if it does hit the fan, I don't think a vast majority of law/military will be going door to door collecting weapons. They will be on the side of freedom.

Civil war? My second grade teacher taught us it was the “War between the Americans and Yankees”.

You have my respect and admiration. I enjoy your writing and try to find and read all your articles.

I would like your opinion on the following observation.

I am 76 years old and have watched America thread it’s way through many crisis. Including a nuclear exchanges from Russia due to misunderstood war game and the Cuban missile crisis.

I am now living in a country I no longer recognize with the very real possibility that we will elect Hillary, destroy the Supreme Court, and end our Liberty, all with the enthusiastic support of half of the population.

I contend any attempt to regulate or confiscate guns is unnecessary. THEY will have already won. The oppression can happen gradually.

We are too comfortable. We will continue to have our football and beers.

They are cleaver enough that there will never be a hill to be worth defending, to die over.

Unintended Consequences will remain a work of fiction

Many of us could have pinned this same scenario, I appreciate that someone did. It’s pretty obvious that it will take another civil war to reinstate Constitutional law.

BLOAT - buy lots of ammo today. Food for storage too.

But, what should we buy at the very last minute. Ammo is not on that list. (1) We have seen what happened to ammo recently, when prices jumped and many calibers were unavailable at any price. (2) Responsible people who already have the ammo they expect to be able to use should not be buying when our natural but last minute allies are also buying. It’s better for 1,000 more decent Americans in our area to be armed with 50 or so rounds each for the latecomers than for 100 of us to be armed with an extra 5,000 rounds each.

What is on my last-minute list? Lots of each of the following:

- cooking oil (limited shelf life)
- insecticides (limited shelf life)
- clothing with elastic (limited shelf life)
- fuel and stabilizer (limited shelf life)
- extra batteries (limited shelf life)
- spices (limited shelf life)
- canned fruit (limited shelf life)

I have an actual list, although it’s not with me. The theme though is that I should already have everything I would want if the liberals get the ugly changes they hope for - except an increased surplus of items with a limited shelf life. Those items I hope to buy in quantity to share at the first sign that it’s almost time. I don’t imagine a run on any of the above as a first reaction to trouble.

Other ideas for last minute purchases, anyone?

Your scenario is certainly in play, in regards to the politics, but there is something else that I feel going on simultaneously. Something far closer to home than anything that could happen in our beloved Capital. Some undercurrent.

These actions you predict are far more plausible when viewed through the pressure being put on Joe Sixpack out there waiting for the light to turn green.

Heroic “revolutionary” action is very unlikely to suddenly arise from a bunch of fat, out of shape, aging, television addicts. Things have to get far worse before men will risk everything for a political cause.

It’s Black Lives Matter, Safe Spaces, Transsexual Urinals, Daughters Chopped up for Alligator Food, White Privilege and the Knock Out Game. These are the things that are sending Joe Sixpack to Cabella’s every weekend.

If and when your local Homicide Detective decides that bodies lying in the ditch simply aren’t worth investigating any longer because of the threats to police officers in certain neighborhoods. Things will speed up quickly. There is a STRONG desire to take out the trash without being locked up by this fraud of a government.

Sorry Matt you always forget about state(s) secession. That is a real possibility.
