Speaking of the Tour de France, Do you remember who the first winner was ?
I have no problem with women becoming SEALS if they pass the same standards as men. If a woman passes that, same level, she gets my respect — just as male SEALS do
What a give away! All the male animals in the wild will be following the seals who are “in season”. My cat let’s me know by his affection several days prior.
This piece misses the point. Almost every example he uses of a “men’s” event is in fact open. Any woman good enough can compete, even if anatomy makes it highly unlikely.
This is — in theory — what the military is doing now. In practice it may be lowering standards or creating double standards with dire result, but we don’t oppose that by citing examples of discrimination which don’t apply as such.
This all goes away as soon as enough females in body bags get piled up high enough.

Some great comments on the whole subject of women in combat arms from my niece’s boyfriend, who ended a Marine enlistment about 18 months ago; he was a 240 gunner in Afghanistan.

That whole thread is worthwhile on the subject.
“Professional sports have a profit motive and bring in a fortune every year. Do you really think the owners of the Dallas Cowboys are going to start a woman as QB just so they can show how sensitive, progressive and PC they are?”
Yes, actually. Several top female players have tried out for various NBA teams over the years. None of them made the cut. I suspect if any of them were credible one of the bottom-dwelling teams would have given it a shot in an effort to put fans in the stands — even if only for a few weeks.
Years ago I was in conversation with a security guard at a hotel. A real mountain 6’2, 300-lbs or so. I asked him if a typical female holding a 3rd degree black belt had any shot against him 1 v. 1. He said, “not a chance”. “She might get one good shot in, but if HE connected, even partially, it was all over.”
Damon, now I have to clean off my monitor.
This farce will be followed by great tragedy.
There are no "whoopsies" or "do-overs" when you are crushed and defeated in war.
Napoleon. ;-P
A Nation's women are where it gets its future. From the children they produce. The future of a Nation lies with its women. That was widely recognized at one time. That is why the rule,"Women and children first in the lifeboats was enforced by force when necessary back in the seafaring days.
I don’t think we will lose, but the casualty rate is going to be very high indeed.
The British didn’t think they would lose Singapore, “The Gibraltar of the East,” but they did.
But the British had the USA behind them to pull their fat out of the fire.
There is nobody behind the USA except China, Russia, and Iran. When we lose, that’s it.

Women will be allowed to apply and compete for the assignment. Only if they qualify will they be "allowed in". As long as the requirements are not changed, no problem. If there is a Supergirl out there who can meet the standard and wants to serve, God Bless her!
