This might be an idea whose time has come: Nearly two-thirds of Americans are in favor of free college for everyone, and about three-quarters think at least some people should be eligible for free college, a new survey shows.
As the labor market increasingly benefits the better educated, and as college education and earnings potential become more tightly linked, people are coming around to an idea that seemed radical until very recently.
Vermont senator Bernie Sanders touted the idea as a central plank of his primary platform, and Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton recently announced her own version, which includes a household income cap of $85,000 that rises to $125,000 in the future, while Republican nominee Donald Trump has not released a detailed plan to address tuition costs....

2/3 ? oh paleeze
...as long as they aren’t paying for it.
They forgot to add that part.
...and ponies.
Most people support receiving benefits they do not have to pay for.
I would like colleges and universities to adopt more work/study programs. So it takes 5 - 6 years to get a degree. The individual will come out with minimal or no debt, the satisfaction of knowing they paid for their degree, and some experience.
But I am sure you would be able to keep your college.
Other forms of "free" college are simply a type of political payback for one of the most loyal Democrat voter groups, and they should not be seriously considered.
I have had this same argument with clueless self entitled brats in the past. I'll tell them that only "rights" they have are God given and recognized by people of experience who understand what rights are and are not by the sweat of their own brow. If someone else has to give it to you they aren't rights.
Right, two thirds of the Americans are nothing but a
bunch of dam socialists.
Where did they pull these BS statistics from?
To be fair, they should pay back all the people who have already paid for college.....
How about we just give everyone a million dollars?....and a pony.
Congratulations! You get FREE COLLEGE TUITION!
Isn't that wonderful?!?
All you have to do for the rest of your life is to pay the tuition for all the college students who will come behind you.
Isn't that wonderful?
Free college, free food, free clothing, free housing, free healthcare, free wifi . . .
Everything should be free. Actually, people should not have to work (work is oppression), so who needs free college?
Let’s all relax and enjoy our free money from the free money tree.
This has been a huge success for several decades at Drexel U. in Philly.
I do not have the answer.
AND FREE COFFEE at Starbucks.....
Really depends on how the work study program functions. Currently, it's almost impossible to find a work study candidate who will actually WORK during the time they're supposed to. Most just want a paid position where they can sit in a quiet place, do their homework, and get paid for it. They act like it's a huge imposition for them to have to do something to earn the money they're paid.
Free college so kids can learn how to be good little democrat socialists..
It only follows that if I have the right to free college, I have a right to graduate whether I learn anything or not.
"Everybody has won, and all must have prizes." ................. Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
Why not skip the race and go directly to the prizes? They'll be worthless anyway.
Along with the pony he promised a $2500 savings on health insurance. Waiting on that one too.
I understand this and could get on board under the strictest guidelines.
But first I want to know WHY it costs so damn much for college?
And for those who can’t afford it, let’s here real examples, not the “My college debt was 200,000”. Yeah, for 8 years of school to become a brain surgeon, perhaps its required!
The reason I could get on board with free/reduced college is because an educated society benefits the entire populace. Stupid people cause problems, can’t get jobs and are more prone to criminal behavior, thus becoming a drain on society.
I honestly don’t know how it would work, but with the right plan, I could get on board.
Two-thirds of Americans are morons.
