Less than a week after five Dallas law enforcement officers were killed by a lunatic gunman, the nation is again reeling from a deadly confrontation between cops and an ex-military extremist. This past Sunday, former Marine Gavin Long gunned down three officers in Baton Rouge, a city on edge after police shot Alton Sterling, a black man, on July 5.
I dread the day one of my cop friends is shot by a crazy shooter seeking revenge for the murder of an innocent black person.
Make no mistake, I love and respect good cops. Over the years, I've become friends with many officers who try hard to connect with the black communities they serve. But I have a problem with bad cops, just like I have issues with bad African-Americans who kill innocent kids in Miami's inner-city neighborhoods.
We will never get past this issue unless the police fraternity tears down the blue wall of silence. We need to have hard conversations about cops — regardless of their race or ethnicity — protecting bad apples. Sometimes, officers do nothing though they know colleagues abuse the badge and break the law.
Homicide investigators often plead with African-Americans to end the no-snitching culture. Yet no one tells cops to do the same. Departments and unions that stop protecting bad cops can send a message that no institution is above the law. A person can be charged as an accessory to murder for witnessing a homicide and not reporting it to law enforcement. Why can't the cop who stays silent about an unjustified killing be charged with the same crime?
Even prosecutors rarely bring charges against killer cops because laws are designed to protect law enforcement officials. They also fear pissing off police departments.
We are on the verge of a civil war. If we don't stop making excuses for the actions of bad people, all Americans will start shooting one another.
There will be no civil war. If there is, it will last as long as the couple in Turkey.
It will be a disaster, as they would be severely outnumbered in men, tactics and supplies.
C'mon, people, the f#ckstick who tossed a flash bang in a baby crib?
No Knock raids so some stoner doesn't have time to flush 15 lbs of weed down a low flow toilet?
Shoot all the toy poodles, on spec?
Trash the place, shoot everyone, have all the kids handcuffed on the floor, and THEN discover the real crack house is one block over?
AND, after the butchery, just an "OOPS!" and no charges against the thugs?
It's strange how all that has gotten lost in the dialog. Too many people have conveniently forgotten this.

I completely agree. Facts and details matter, just the blacks who are on this “I hate cops” kick don’t care to hear them.
The cases you mention should absolutely be prosecuted. Even as an Infantry Soldier in Iraq we treated the populace there with more care and respect than these police tactical teams treat American citizens. Part of the reason we tended to be swift and powerful yet controlled and restrained was because the likelihood of hitting the wrong house was very good. If we broke anything, we had cash on hand to pay the people for the damage before we left, and we damn sure didn’t discharge our weapons unless there was one hell of an imminent threat (”the dog came up to me wagging its tail” would not have sufficed), nor did we smack people around and handcuff them for no reason.
Why are US Soldiers in a combat zone held to higher standards of conduct in these cases than our own police departments?
I'm as guilty as the next of hip shooting, hitting the POST button too quickly, but the whole country is getting too close to a line, here.
Cops that commit crimes should be prosecuted.
Cops that do not commit crimes should not be prosecuted.
Cops that do not commit crimes should also not be executed in the street by domestic terrorists.
In the couple of instances where the cop was at fault, those cops are in jail awaiting trial or already sentenced.
Bad cop here in this story, and no justice for the paralyzed victim who is not black.

Well, let’s see, it generally helps to be able to speak the language of the country that you are in.
It isn’t wise to walk next to people’s houses, that arouses suspicions, and can potentially get the police called upon you.
It also isn’t wise to pull away from officers when they are arresting you. that is viewed as an act of aggression.
The officer was tried twice. The evidence was obviously not in favor of the suspect.
Sorry, no sympathy here, he brought it on himself.
I’ve been in the same situation as you. This “blue wall of silence” crap is a meme that Hollyeood has perpetuated in movies to the point that the general population believes it.
I’ve seen a few cases where misbehavior has been tolerated, in some cases for years, when the miscreant is a favorite of someone in a command position or, ahem, a member of a ‘fraternal’ organization (NOT the FOP) but serious criminality eventually drew the appropriate penalty.
The problem with many of the cases of recent media interest is the ignorance of most people regarding use of force issues and the cynical exploitation of that ignorance by media figures and political demagogues. (But I repeat myself.)
I’m now retired from law enforcement and glad of it.

Nope, that’s NOT the way to fix things.
This country needs to split into two nations, each made up of contiguous states.
One side would live by the principles of the founding fathers.
The other side would be progressives and all of their followers.
One side would have NO welfare benefits of ANY sort for anyone that was not elderly or truly disabled.
It does not take an Einstein to guess how this would work out.
The progressive side would collapse without the tax monies from the other side.
I’d choose to live on the conservative side!
Let ANYONE who wants to abide by the rules move into the conservative side! No racial barriers, no religious barriers [sharia adherents need NOT apply]
I have black friends that I dearly love, I would let them live in my own home.
I know white folk that I would be afraid to let in my front door!
After a certain time the conservative states could enact a law that requires a buy-in to immigrate. Enough money to see someone through a medium-sized crisis. 350,000 would suffice. And require that major-medical insurance be purchased and maintained...NOT an Obama-Care mess but real private insurance.

Blacks gravitate towards sports with high profile and high pay. EVERY kid in the Ghetto wants to play in the NFL or NBA.
Not so many aspire to be doctors.
I turned down college football scholarships because I wanted to be concentrate on academics so I could become a doctor.
Over representation of Blacks in some sports is not strictly due to physical superiority. Swimming is one of the most physically demanding sports and when was the last time you saw a black swimming champion
