They did run a bombing mission against ISIS. In fact Syria has accussed the US of killing a few dozen civilians today. No power to Incirlik, but bombing runs have commenced. Restoring power though might help them find more accurate targets lol.

Thanks. That is the most definitive answer to the question of where the bombs are I have seen yet. I’ve assumed they remain since the bunkers were restored or built anew only a few years ago to improve security.
Probably accurate to say the Turks have defacto control of the nukes. They are on Turkish soil. If the US tries to evacuate them, Turkish personal on the Turkish base would instantly know. All the Turks would have to do is close the base and airspace over Turkey. Putting on the tinfoil, one can speculate that Erdogan has just arrested everyone in a position to stop him from making a move on the Incirlik nukes. So, welcome to Nuclear Poker. Erdogan has a strong hand and is calling Obama’s bluff, will Obama fold or is Erdogan over playing his hand ?
If there is an attempt to capture nukes we’ll see a serious firefight pulling in all of our assets. It’s not something the Turks will be able to do unless Obama wants it to happen.

If there are still B61 on that airbase which for obvious reasons the DOD will neither confirm or deny, there would be a lot dead Air force SP’s as they would have been duty bound to fight to the last man protecting those munitions and the last two would have rendered them inert and tripped the broken arrow alarm immediately raising our world wide defcon. since no change in posture has been confirmed and no reports of hundreds of dead American airmen we can believe the stories that the munitions were removed sometime in 2003. I was an MP and guared Army special weapons at Anniston Armu depot in the 1990s you fight to the death period full stop the last two men disable what they can and then also fight to the end.
I would have thought USAF bases abroad that hold nuclear weapons are, under international law/treaties, a little part of the USA (a bit like an embassy). The Turks can’t just walk in and help themselves.
